Williams<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Conspiracy to Distribute Dangerous Drugs<\/h3>\n<p>Irvin &#8220;Green\u2064 Eyes&#8221;\u200c Cartagena, originally from Puerto\u2062 Rico, has been convicted of \u2063conspiring to distribute heroin, fentanyl, and fentanyl analogue, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdny\/pr\/dealer-fentanyl-laced-heroin-resulted-overdose-death-actor-michael-k-williams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>according<\/strong><\/a>  to the United States\u200c Attorney for the \u200dSouthern District of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/new-york-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>New York<\/strong><\/a>. He has \u2064been sentenced to ten years \u2064in prison, with five years of supervised release.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 court found\u200b that Cartagena, 40, distributed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/four-men-arrested-in-connection-with-overdose-death-of-actor-michael-k-williams\/\" title=\"Four Men Arrested In Connection With Overdose Death Of Actor Michael K. Williams\">fentanyl-laced heroin<\/a> \u200bthat led to\u200c Williams&#8217; overdose death. Surveillance footage showed him providing drugs to the actor the day before\u2064 Williams was discovered dead. Cartagena was one of \u200dfour \u2063individuals charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, heroin, \u200dand other drugs.<\/p>\n<h3>Fighting the Fentanyl Epidemic<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Michael K. Williams tragically lost his life after using the drugs sold to him by Cartagena. Although their\u2064 product had already claimed one life, Cartagena and his co-conspirators continued to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dealer-who-sold-actor-michael-k-williams-fatal-dose-of-heroin-sentenced-to-10-years-in-prison\/\" title=\"Dealer sentenced to 10 years for selling fatal heroin dose to actor Michael K. Williams.\">sell potentially lethal fentanyl-laced heroin<\/a>,&#8221; said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This office will tenaciously continue\u200b our\u200d enforcement efforts against unscrupulous drug \u200bdealers who distribute poison and\u200b exacerbate \u2062the scourge of the fentanyl epidemic,&#8221; the statement continued.<\/p>\n<p>Cartagena\u200b fled to Puerto Rico after Williams&#8217; death but was apprehended \u200cand arrested in February 2022.<\/p>\n<h3>The Deadly Impact of Fentanyl-Laced Drugs<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Fentanyl-laced drugs are leading to more overdose deaths.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>New York City&#8217;s Department of \u200bHealth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/site\/doh\/about\/press\/pr2023\/overdose-rates-reach-unprecedented-levels.page#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>noted<\/strong><\/a>  that &#8220;fentanyl \u2014 an opioid 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine \u2014 was detected in 80% of drug overdose deaths \u2062in New York\u2064 City in 2021 and was\u200c the most common substance involved in overdose\u200d deaths for the fifth year in \u2062a row.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/oregon-governor-encourages-people-to-call-police-on-neighbors-violating-covid-orders\/\" title=\"Oregon Governor Encourages People To Call Police On Neighbors Violating COVID Orders\">public health crisis<\/a>.
