Instead, it exposes more troubling details and provides further proof the House of Representatives needs to open impeachment inquiries against \u2064President Joe Biden, \u200cAttorney General Merrick Garland, U.S. Attorney Weiss (and possibly the D.C. and California U.S. attorneys),\u2062 and FBI Director Christopher Wray.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collapse of \u200da Plea Deal<\/h2>\n<p>A little over a week ago, \u200cnews broke that Hunter\u2064 Biden\u2019s plea deal had collapsed and Garland had named Weiss as a special\u2062 counsel to continue \u200bthe investigation and prosecution of Hunter Biden. The\u2063 news \u2063came after the president\u2019s son \u200bappeared\u200c in late July before\u200c federal Judge \u200cMaryellen Noreika to plead guilty \u200bon two misdemeanor tax counts and to resolve a gun charge with a pretrial diversion agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Things didn\u2019t go according\u200c to plan, however,\u200d with Noreika instead quizzing\u200c the parties on the\u2063 unusual inclusion \u200din the pretrial diversion agreement of\u200b a broadly worded promise of immunity, as well as \u2064the parties\u2019 relative\u200c understanding \u200bof the deal, \u200cand then\u2063 ordering the parties to \u2064further brief the \u200dquestion\u200d of the propriety of the arrangement. The\u2064 hearing\u200d concluded with Hunter Biden pleading not\u200b guilty, pending the additional briefing.<\/p>\n<p>The briefing never came, though, with Weiss, after obtaining special counsel authority, instead filing a\u2064 motion to \u201cvacate\u201d the court\u2019s order to\u200b brief \u2062the issues,\u2063 noting the parties were\u2064 at an impasse and\u2064 a trial would likely be needed. Weiss \u200blater filed a motion\u2063 to dismiss the tax charges, noting his office was\u200c \u201cconsidering what tax charges to bring in another district and\u200c may elect to \u200cbring\u200d the same charges\u200b set forth in\u200b the instant information or different ones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judge Noreika \u200cgranted that motion last week, dismissing the tax charges; \u200bthe gun charge remains pending in the federal\u2062 court in Delaware, with\u2064 the parties disputing the \u2064validity of the pretrial diversion agreement \u2014 an issue on which we will likely see further developments this week.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Full \u200dCourt\u200c Press<\/h2>\n<p>Thursday\u2019s \u2064dismissal of the tax charges,\u2064 coupled\u200d with Weiss\u2019s earlier\u2062 representation that he planned to refile those charges \u2014 or possibly others \u2014 \u200din a different federal court, seemingly pushed Hunter Biden\u2019s legal team into\u2064 the arms of its more reliable ally: \u200bthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-justice-department-nominee-faces-ethics-minefield-from-fathers-corporate-interests\/\" title=\"Biden Justice Department Nominee Faces Ethics Minefield From Father\u2019s Corporate Interests\">left-wing press<\/a>. The\u2064 results? Two \u200cnearly identical articles, one at Politico and one in The New York\u2064 Times, hit the internet on \u200cSaturday, both of \u200dwhich spun\u200b Hunter Biden\u2019s legal problems as Trump and Republican-created.<\/p>\n<p>But rather than \u200bexonerate\u2062 the president\u2019s son, the details revealed in the\u2062 articles \u2014 which were purportedly based on documents, emails, and interviews with Hunter Biden\u2019s \u2064legal team \u2014 deepen the scandal,\u2063 while also providing a laughable defense \u2064to \u2062the alleged criminality.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spinning a Devastating Timeline and a \u200dSugary\u200c Sweetheart Deal<\/h2>\n<p>When \u200cnews broke that \u2062U.S.\u2062 Attorney Weiss had agreed to a plea agreement with Hunter Biden \u2014 which\u200b included only \u200dthe\u2064 two misdemeanor \u2063tax charges \u2064with \u2063a recommendation of \u200cno jail time,\u200b and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/6-takeaways-from-the-hunter-biden-special-counsel-appointment-you-wont-hear-from-big-media\/\" title=\"6 Key Points About Hunter Biden Special Counsel Appointment Ignored by Mainstream Media\">separate pretrial diversion agreement<\/a> on the felony gun charge with a grant of broad immunity \u200b\u2014 Republicans \u200bwere outraged. They weren\u2019t \u2063outraged\u2062 enough, however, \u200bbecause \u200dthanks to Hunter Biden\u2019s team feeding Politico and the Times the backstory \u200bof the deal, we\u200b now know it was much\u2064 worse, and Biden\u2019s\u200b DOJ is likely responsible.<\/p>\n<p>According to The New York Times, on Monday, May 15, 2023, Lesley Wolf, a high-up lawyer in the Delaware\u2063 U.S. \u200dattorney\u2019s office \u201cwith\u2062 whom Mr. Clark\u200c had developed a rapport over the previous two years,\u201d called Biden\u2019s \u200blegal team with a proposition: Hunter Biden need not \u200bplead guilty to \u2063 <em>anything<\/em>, but instead they could end the investigation by entering\u2062 into \u2064a deferred prosecution agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden\u2019s lawyers were, according to the Times, \u201camenable\u201d to the agreement, with his lead attorney, Christopher \u2062Clark, telling Wolf \u201che would draft language for such an \u2062agreement\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the Times article,\u200d \u201cInside the Collapse of Hunter Biden\u2019s Plea Deal,\u201d portrayed Wolf\u2019s call to Clark as \u2064a mere four-month\u2063 follow-up to an earlier \u2063meeting\u200d between\u200d Hunter\u2019s legal team and U.S. Attorney Weiss in January, Politico \u2063added\u200c some helpful additional\u200d details.<\/p>\n<p>According to Politico, from the fall of 2022 through the spring of 2023, \u200dClark, \u200don behalf \u2063of Hunter, sought meetings with high-level Justice Department officials, including the head of \u2062the Criminal Division, the head of the Tax Division, \u200bthe Office of Legal Counsel, the Office of the Solicitor General, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, and the attorney\u2063 general\u2062 himself. \u2062Clark \u2063finally succeeded in his efforts to meet with a higher-up\u2064 at Main Justice, when on April \u206326, 2023, Clark\u200d met\u200b with Associate Deputy\u2064 Attorney General Bradley Weinsheimer \u200band \u2062Delaware \u200cU.S. Attorney Weiss.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Could \u2064Have Prompted \u200bThat Breakthrough Meeting?<\/h2>\n<p>Just one week \u200bearlier, Mark Lytle, \u2064a partner at the law firm Nixon\u200d Peabody, had penned a \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/empowr.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Letter-to-Congress.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> to key House and\u2062 Senate committees informing them that his client, a \u200ccareer\u2062 IRS criminal supervisory special agent, \u200csought to make \u201cprotected whistleblower \u2064disclosures to Congress,\u201d concerning an \u2064investigation into a politically connected individual. Those whistleblower disclosures, the letter \u200cexplained, would \u201ccontradict sworn testimony to Congress by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-rudy-giulianis-home-and-office-searched-by-federal-investigators-executing-search-warrant-lawyer-slams-legal-thuggery\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Rudy Giuliani\u2019s Home And Office Searched By Federal Investigators, Executing Search Warrant. While the whistleblowers did not identify the politically connected taxpayer, Just The News <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/accountability\/political-ethics\/hldsenior-irs-agent-blows-whistle-alleging-bide-doj-thwarting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirmed<\/a> \u2064 the allegations concerned\u200c Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<p>So \u200bthat means\u200d that after Hunter\u2019s lawyer spent\u200c some\u200b six months trying to swing a meeting\u2062 with top DOJ officials, a meeting materialized a week after news broke \u200bof \u200bthe whistleblowers\u2019 claims that political favoritism prevented them from properly\u2063 investigating Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The \u200bTimeline Gets \u2062Worse<\/h2>\n<p>Soon after Weiss, \u2064Hunter\u2019s attorney Clark, and \u2064Associate Deputy Attorney General Bradley\u2062 Weinsheimer met in late April 2023 to discuss the Hunter \u200cBiden investigation, the\u200b House Ways and Means\u2063 Committee\u2063 met on\u200c May \u20635, 2023, and received a \u2062\u201cproffer\u201d \u200cfrom the whistleblowers\u2019 \u2063attorney concerning the testimony \u2063their client would provide Congress about the political interference into the Hunter \u200bBiden investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Less than a week \u2064later, on \u2064May 11, 2023, Weinsheimer \u2062\u201cthanked Clark for the \u200bmeeting and told\u200c him Weiss would handle the next steps.\u201d\u2064 Then, on \u2062May 15, 2023, \u201cat the request of the Department of Justice,\u201d the\u200b two\u200d whistleblowers and their\u200c entire elite\u200d team of IRS investigators were removed from the\u2062 Hunter \u2064Biden investigation. It was the\u2063 same day, according to the Times\u2019 weekend \u2064reporting, that Wolf proposed\u2062 resolving the investigation \u2062into\u2064 Hunter\u2063 Biden with only \u2062a deferred \u200dprosecution \u2064agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s legal team presented a first draft of \u2064a\u2062 proposed\u2064 diversion agreement \u2062to Wolf on Thursday, May 18,\u2063 2023,\u200c which\u2064 reportedly included a \u2063sweeping grant of immunity for\u2062 \u201cany other federal crimes relating to matters\u200b investigated by the United States\u201d the \u200dpresident\u2019s son may have committed.\u2063 After additional negotiations, the pledge of \u200bimmunity was\u200b changed to the \u200cgovernment promising not to prosecute \u200bHunter \u2064\u201cfor any of\u200b the \u2062offenses \u2064\u2018encompassed\u2019 in the statement of facts\u201d\u200b that would accompany the \u2062diversion agreement.<\/p>\n<p>In sending a revised agreement to Clark, Wolf \u200bmade clear\u200d that she \u201chad not discussed or obtained approval\u201d from \u2062Weiss about \u201cthe terms of the final agreement.\u201d \u2063Weiss apparently refused \u2064to approve the deal Wolf had\u200d attempted to carve out with Hunter\u2019s attorney, telling Clark on Tuesday, May 23, \u200cthat Weiss required \u201cHunter Biden to plead guilty to\u2062 two misdemeanor counts of failing to pay his\u2064 taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cErupting\u200c in\u2063 anger, Mr. Clark accused Ms. Wolf\u200d of misleading him,\u201d the Times reported, but Hunter\u200c Biden nonetheless agreed to\u200d the deal, which is the sweetheart \u2062plea\u2064 agreement \u200cthe public would learn about on June 20, 2023.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some Crazy Spin<\/h2>\n<p>So had U.S. Attorney \u2062Weiss not objected,\u200d the sweetheart\u2062 plea deal \u2063gifted to Hunter Biden would \u2063have included no guilty pleas at\u2062 all and just\u200b the pretrial\u200c diversion agreement on the gun charge. Now Hunter Biden\u2019s legal team, \u200dwith \u200dthe \u200cassistance\u200b of Politico\u2064 and\u200c The New York Times, \u200dis spinning Weiss\u2019s refusal to go\u200b along with Wolf\u2019s proposed diversion\u200c agreement as \u2062politically motivated and stemming \u2062from pressure\u2062 from Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>Now that\u2019s some chutzpah given the facts and the timing \u2014 including all of \u200cthe facts revealed\u200b by the whistleblowers\u200c that Politico and\u2063 the \u200cTimes basically ignored, such as the political interference that prevented the\u2063 IRS \u2062investigators from conducting a\u200b thorough investigation\u200d into Hunter Biden\u2019s foreign \u2063business dealings and\u2064 evidence connecting\u200b Joe Biden to those affairs.<\/p>\n<p>But equally\u2063 damning is \u200cthe timing, which suggests that as \u2062soon\u200c as the whistleblowers \u200balerted Congress to their evidence of political \u2062favoritism toward the president\u2019s son,\u2064 Biden\u2019s DOJ intervened, with Weinsheimer meeting with\u2063 Weiss and Hunter\u2019s attorney. Then the whistleblowers were quickly booted from\u200b the case, and Wolf \u2062promptly\u200c proposed resolving the entire\u200c investigation through the pretrial diversion agreement.<\/p>\n<p>It \u200dwasn\u2019t Republicans \u200cplaying\u2063 politics\u2064 that\u2062 doomed that agreement, however; it was the \u200bwhistleblowers\u2019 exposure of the political favoritism\u2062 behind the Hunter Biden investigation \u2063that \u2063led to Weiss offering Hunter Biden \u200da sweetheart deal\u200b that was just not quite as sugar-infused as the one Wolf baked up.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Scandal Is So Much Bigger<\/h2>\n<p>While Hunter Biden\u2019s\u200b spin\u200c failed to launch, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/regime-media-launder-dirty-details-of-hunter-bidens-plea-deal-and-his-dads-filthy-doj\/\" title=\"Regime media conceals Hunter Biden's plea deal and his father's tainted DOJ.\">inside story nonetheless proved explosive<\/a>. It provided further proof that both Weiss and\u2064 Garland misled Congress when\u2064 they claimed Weiss was totally in charge of the \u2062Hunter \u2063Biden investigation. Furthermore, Garland claimed the investigation was \u2063insulated from political interference because Weiss\u2064 was a\u200c Trump holdover.<\/p>\n<p>As the weekend reporting revealed, \u2064Hunter Biden\u2019s attorney continuously contacted high-level DOJ political appointees, including Garland, seeking someone to rein in \u200dWeiss. And Associate Deputy\u2064 Attorney General Weinsheimer finally answered his call and arranged the meeting with Weiss that led \u200cto what would have been a done deal if \u2062not for the\u2064 federal judge questioning \u2064the \u2064parties on the irregularities in the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>But Clark did more than solicit the intervention of Biden\u2019s DOJ. According to\u200d Politico, Clark \u200dthreatened \u2062Weiss with a promise\u200c to\u2063 put President Joe Biden on\u2063 the stand in any trial of Hunter \u2062Biden and thereby\u2063 cause a \u201cconstitutional \u2062crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u200d threat came\u2064 in a \u206232-page\u2064 letter Clark\u200b sent Weiss\u2062 on Oct. 31, 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/08\/19\/hunter-biden-plea-deal-collapse-00111974\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to Politico. \u201cPresident Biden now\u200c unquestionably would be \u200ca fact witness <em>for the \u2063defense<\/em> in any criminal trial,\u201d Clark wrote in the letter\u2063 reviewed by Politico. \u201cThis of all cases justifies neither the \u200dspectacle of \u2064a\u2063 sitting \u2062President testifying at a \u2062criminal trial nor the potential for a resulting Constitutional crisis,\u201d the letter continued, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/08\/19\/hunter-biden-plea-deal-collapse-00111974\">suggesting<\/a> \u201ca trial of the president\u2019s\u200b son would create \u200dpolitical and constitutional chaos by pitting the president\u2064 himself against his own Justice Department.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u2062 moment Clark leveraged President Biden as a\u2064 witness \u2064to \u2062negotiate a plea deal on behalf \u200bof his son, Weiss should have advised the attorney general of the need for\u200c a special counsel. And the\u200c moment Clark contacted DOJ \u2064political appointees to \u2062discuss any \u200dimpending charges against Hunter \u2062Biden, Garland should have appointed one.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, both Weiss\u200d and Garland represented to the American public \u2062and Congress that\u200b Weiss\u2064 had \u2063ultimate authority over the investigation and that there was no \u200dpolitical interference.
