The front-runner for the \u200bnomination confirmed\u200d in a <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/110924112193729328\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post on Truth Social<\/a> on Sunday that he wouldn\u2019t\u200b be taking part in the debate \u2014 but when\u2063 the issue was being discussed on CNN\u2019s \u201cThe Source\u201d\u2062 Friday\u2062 that issue was still up\u2063 in the air. Trump had strongly hinted he wouldn\u2019t \u200bbe appearing, given \u200dhe believes Fox News, which is hosting the event, is \u2064\u201chostile\u201d toward him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDonald Trump right now, is not expected to show up,\u201d CNN\u2019s Kaitlan Collins said\u2062 during the segment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has until Monday at nine\u200d o\u2019clock to make that\u2064 official, I guess. Candidates are kind of having to prepare. Does he show up? Does he not? They\u2019re kind of prepping for\u200c two \u2064different debates, potentially.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think they should be, \u2062though,\u201d said\u200b former Obama administration staffer Ashley Allison. \u201cI think you should be very\u2062 clear in your vision \u2063of what you want \u2062to do as president,\u2064 regardless of \u200dDonald Trump. And that has to be, \u2018I\u2019m either \u2063going to say Donald Trump was wrong,\u2019 and be very clear whether \u200bhe\u2019s on \u2064the debate \u2064stage or \u2064not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u200d agree,\u201d \u2063Osborne said,\u2063 and thence up with an alternative plan of action the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-admits-truth-donald-trump-live-tv-bad-news-joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former \u200bpresident<\/a> could \u2064take.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m [at] about a \u206230\u200b percent chance this is going to happen, but I think Donald Trump is going to turn himself\u200c in\u2064 either\u2063 right \u200bbefore the debate \u2064or during the debate,\u2063 which will suck all \u2062the oxygen out of the \u2064room,\u201d he \u200csaid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then Fox is stuck having \u2062to air the debate, whereas \u2064you and \u200cother networks are able to say, \u2018Wait a minute, Donald Trump has actually just turned himself in.\u2019 And \u2064then there\u2019s Tucker Carlson \u2063waiting on the steps of \u200dthe courthouse able to interview him right there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The debate is scheduled to start at \u20649 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.<\/p>\n<p>Collins had noted, earlier in the show, that Trump \u201cis expected to sit, for an interview,\u2063 with Tucker Carlson, that night, snubbing the network that is \u2064hosting the debate and, of course, \u200cfired Tucker Carlson,\u201d according to a CNN \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/show\/skc\/date\/2023-08-18\/segment\/01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transcript<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Doing it\u2063 from the \u200dcourthouse steps \u200dright after the arraignment, however, is next-level showmanship \u2014 which, as we all know, is Trump\u2019s stock\u200b in\u200b trade.<\/p>\n<h3>A Bold Move with\u2064 a \u200bDeeper Message<\/h3>\n<p>Beyond the showmanship, however, is a deeper message: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-sentences-woman-sent-trump-poison-never-100-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> is going to treat these\u200b charges every bit as seriously as they deserve to be treated.<\/p>\n<p>Although\u200c it seems \u200blike so many \u2064more by \u200bthis point,\u2064 we\u2019re on indictment No. 4 right now \u2014 all\u2062 conveniently filed in 2023, \u2064just as the presidential race started, for alleged acts that date as far back as 2016\u200b and mostly dealing\u200d with events that\u2063 happened\u2063 before 2021. What\u2019re \u200dthe odds?<\/p>\n<p>Of these four \u200bindictments, only one has \u2064the tocsin of gravity about it: The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-charges-unveiled-trump-mar-lago-documents-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-asks-supreme-court-to-reject-trump-request-in-fbi-classified-documents-case\/\" title=\"DOJ Asks Supreme Court to Reject Trump Request in FBI Classified Documents Case\">classified documents case<\/a><\/a>, which \u200dis a bit more nettlesome than Trump or those around him \u200cwould like\u200b to admit.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s still just \u2063a .250\u200d batting average \u2014 not particularly good in the majors, and certainly not good in the prosecutorial arena. \u2063It also doesn\u2019t help that \u200cnumerous other politicians, including the two\u200c Democratic candidates Trump has faced in presidential\u200d election \u2014 their names are Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden \u2014 have dealt \u200dwith similar \u2062problems regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-may-pick-strategic-day-to-surrender-and-someone-will-be-waiting-on-courthouse-steps-for-him-ex-adviser\/\" title=\"Trump could choose a strategic day to surrender, with someone ready to meet him outside the courthouse, says former adviser.\">mishandling classified\u200b information<\/a> and no \u2062charges were pressed.<\/p>\n<p>As for the Georgia case, it\u2019s impossible \u200bto sum\u2064 up all the ways that \u200dthe\u2063 prosecutors\u2019 case is\u200c thoroughly\u2062 unserious, but let me encapsulate by presenting you with \u2063a\u200c tweet the indictment insists\u200c was \u201can overt act in furtherance of the\u200b conspiracy\u201d to overturn the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-is-going-on-minnesota-and-wisconsin-both-had-89-90-turnout-something-that-is-highly-unlikely\/\" title=\"What is Going On? Minnesota and Wisconsin BOTH had 89%-90% Turnout -- Something That Is Highly Unlikely\">2020 election results<\/a> in Georgia:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Georgia hearings \u200cnow on \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OANN?\">@OANN<\/a>.\u2063 Amazing!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Donald J. Trump \u2064(@realDonaldTrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/1334530110238695429?\">December \u20623, \u200b2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes, according\u2063 to Fulton County District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/adam-schiff-will-jail-1000-years-trump-convicted-georgia-gop-senator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fani Willis<\/a>, \u200cTrump going on Twitter and telling supporters to watch Georgia election integrity hearings on One \u200cAmerica News \u200cNetwork was \u200ba cunning\u200c act\u2064 of illicit political \u2062intrigue. I append no comment.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not to say \u2064that Trump\u2019s surrender on the day of the debate wouldn\u2019t \u200cbe a gamble.\u2063 Trump would still be reminding Republican voters \u200bthat he\u2019s \u200cunder indictment \u2014 under quite a few of them, actually \u2014 while a\u2063 number of alternatives who aren\u2019t so encumbered are speaking on another channel.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, early debates are often breakout moments for lesser-known candidates. Kamala Harris likely wouldn\u2019t have secured her \u2062vice-presidential \u200dgig in 2020 without a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mere-hours-announcement-wapo-scrambles-claim-harris-didnt-actually-call-biden-racist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brutal viral takedown<\/a> of \u2063Joe Biden\u2019s hypocrisies on race.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi \u200dGabbard\u2062 wouldn\u2019t have become an influential voice in American politics if it wasn\u2019t for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kamala-harris-tanks-almost-unbelievable-13-points-latest-iowa-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">similarly\u200d beautiful\u2063 takedown<\/a> \u2063 of \u2063Kamala\u2019s\u2062 hypocrisy on drug use. That \u200cmore or less ended Kamala\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/even-cnn-is-calling-out-opportunist-nikki-haley-for-trying-to-play-both-sides-video\/\" title=\"Even CNN is Calling Out Opportunist Nikki Haley for Trying to Play Both Sides (VIDEO)\">presidential ambitions<\/a> even as she\u2019d put herself in \u200ba position to become veep.<\/p>\n<p>Could Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis use the\u200c juxtaposition of Trump on the courthouse steps and himself on\u2063 the debate stage to reboot his \u200bimage as the adult in the room? Could upstart Vivek Ramaswamy,\u200b who\u2019s become the latest \u201cTrumpism without Trump\u201d flavor of the week, remind voters that while these \u2063cases are politically motivated, they\u200d still represent baggage that he \u2062doesn\u2019t have \u2063to carry? Could\u200b Mike Pence draw blood by sternly lecturing the former \u2026 \u200doh, come on, I can\u2019t even\u2062 type that without laughing.<\/p>\n<p>The point\u200b is that, wondrous though\u2064 this\u2062 debate\/courthouse spectacle might \u200bbe, it\u2019s not without considerable \u2062risk.
