Trump's lawyer eager to cross-examine.\">bubbling feud<\/a> between Hollywood legend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/james-woods-re-writes-fox-news-headline-network-lot-better-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">James Woods<\/a> and \u2064Musk began when the latter posted on X that he\u2063 planned on removing the \u201cblock\u201d feature from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-new-acting-attorney-general-jeff-rosen-recently-wrote-an-essay-on-foreign-influence-in-us-elections-this-tells-us-a-little-about-his-knowledge-of-whats-going-on-today\/\" title=\"The New Acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen Recently Wrote an Essay on Foreign Influence in US Elections \u2013 This Tells Us A Little About His Knowledge of What\u2019s Going On Today\">social media platform<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Block is \u200dgoing to be deleted as a \u201cfeature\u201d, except for DMs<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1692558414105186796?\">August 18, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBlock\u2064 is going\u200c to be deleted\u2064 as a \u2018feature\u2019, except for [direct messages],\u201d Musk posted on Friday, in response to a\u2063 general \u200dquestion about muting versus blocking X users.<\/p>\n<p>That simple post triggered a wave of backlash,\u2064 including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/elon-musk-slapped-community-note-announcing-x-will-deleting-block-feature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Community Note<\/a> that claimed removing the block\u200c feature would delist the X app, at least\u2064 in its current form, from major distribution platforms.<\/p>\n<p>It remains \u2063to be seen if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/elon-musk-will-pay-legal-bills-x-users-unfairly-treated-posting-liking-platform-no-limit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Musk<\/a> has some sort of loophole planned \u2063to \u200baddress that\u2063 (perhaps the\u2062 ability to block DM\u2019s will satisfy that rule) or if his original claim was \u2062just him \u2062shooting off \u200dat\u2062 the hip.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, it \u2063engendered quite a bit \u2064of outrage and \u2064scorn on the social media platform for \u2063Musk \u200d\u2014 including from conservatives who \u200chad previously \u2062lauded his \u2063purchase of then-Twitter to help \u2064proliferate free speech.<\/p>\n<p>Woods was one such conservative \u2064and \u200binitially expressed his dismay at Musk\u2019s claim about removing the block \u200bfeature.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">In the \u2062midst of a \u2064libel suit I was targeted by thirty trolls the defendant \u2063enlisted to\u200c harass\u2062 me. Others\u2062 on X have echoed \u2063similar worries that removing the \u200cblock feature would \u2064make the site untenable due to bots, trolls \u200cand\u2064 porn accounts.<\/p>\n<p>By that same token, X is Musk\u2019s company. He \u2062can do with\u200c it what he pleases \u2014 even make decisions\u2063 that\u200d anger swathes\u200d of Americans across the entire ideological spectrum.<\/p>\n<p>As \u200dof \u2062this writing, it does\u2062 not appear as if Woods has\u200c responded to \u2062Musk.
