It\u200d was the\u2062 deadliest balloon accident\u200b in New Mexico history.<\/p>\n<p>An \u200cinvestigation into \u200dthe incident was \u2062launched by the National Transportation Safety Board, \u2064and now authorities \u200csay they \u2063have\u2063 some results.<\/p>\n<h3>Results of the Investigation<\/h3>\n<p>Firstly, the NTSB investigators said they found no mechanical malfunctions or failures, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kob.com\/new-mexico\/ntsb-investigation-finds-pilots-drug-use-contributed-to-hot-air-balloon-crash-that-killed-5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KOB-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meleski \u2064failed to maintain an\u2063 adequate distance from the power lines while attempting to land the \u200dcraft, the investigators said.
