They believe \u200bthat these mandates infringe upon\u200d their First Amendment rights and have decided to fight back.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;These regulations are \u2064a \u2062totalitarian\u2062 triple-whammy,&#8221;\u2064 expressed\u200b FIRE attorney Daniel Ortner. &#8220;The government is forcing professors to teach and preach a politicized viewpoint \u2062they do not \u2064share, imposing \u2063incomprehensible guidelines, and \u2064threatening to punish professors when they cross an arbitrary, indiscernible line.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Foundation\u2063 for\u2063 Individual Rights and Expression\u2062 has filed a lawsuit on behalf of these professors\u200d from \u2062three\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jill-biden-tells-community-colleges-your-students-and-their-families-are-carrying-the-brunt-of-the-crisis\/\" title=\"Jill Biden Tells Community Colleges: \u2018Your Students And Their Families Are Carrying The Brunt Of The Crisis\u2019\">community colleges<\/a> in\u2063 Fresno County. The colleges represented in the lawsuit include four professors from Madera Community College, one from Reedley College, \u2062and one from Clovis \u2063Community College.<\/p>\n<h3>New\u2062 Mandates and Their Impact<\/h3>\n<p>The\u200c new requirements \u200bdemand that professors &#8220;promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist\u200c principles to nurture and create a respectful, inclusive, and \u200dequitable\u200c learning and work environment.&#8221; Additionally, \u2063professors are\u200b instructed to &#8220;respect and \u2062acknowledge\u2063 the diversity of students and colleagues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, these guidelines go \u2062beyond mere \u200dsuggestions. Even using the term &#8220;I \u2062grade my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/in-asian-discrimination-appeal-harvard-talks-out-of-both-sides-of-its-mouth\/\" title=\"In Asian Discrimination Appeal, Harvard Talks out of Both Sides of Its Mouth\">class based<\/a> on\u200d merit&#8221; is deemed unacceptable, as it is considered to be\u2063 &#8220;embedded in the ideology of Whiteness and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-community-college-professors-sue-state-over-dei-rules-they-say-infringe-on-first-amendment\/\" title=\"CA community college profs sue state over DEI rules, claim First Amendment infringement.\">upholds\u2062 race-based structural inequality<\/a>,&#8221; according to a glossary of\u200b terms. The plaintiffs argue that these mandates infringe upon their academic\u200b freedom, \u2063as they are \u2062being evaluated based on their inclusion of\u2063 diversity and inclusion concepts in their classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>The professors feel that they are being forced to incorporate elements that are not relevant to \u2062their respective fields. For instance, Reedley College professor Bill Blanken, who teaches chemistry, questions\u200d how he is expected to incorporate DEI into his classroom instruction.
