County DA\u2019s policies pushing for reduced sentences for violent criminals\">legal problems<\/a> were still a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-presidential-candidates-gather-outside-trumps-shadow-in-georgia\/\" title=\"GOP candidates unite in Georgia, away from Trump's influence.\">persistent ghost hovering<\/a> over his presidential primary rivals.<\/p>\n<p>Even before Erickson started interviewing GOP \u2064presidential hopefuls on Friday, he made\u2062 it clear that Trump&#8217;s\u200c multiple indictments \u200dwouldn&#8217;t be a question he&#8217;d ask\u2064 of the candidates. And after \u200bhis \u200dtalk with Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) about topics that didn&#8217;t include the\u2063 former\u200d president,\u200d Erickson had\u200d a tongue-in-cheek remark.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Isn&#8217;t it amazing what you can learn when you ask the \u200bcandidates \u200babout \u2062their policies instead of asking about other people?&#8221;\u200c Erickson \u200cquipped.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Peach State and its GOP leaders \u2062have been \u2063a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbis-targeting-of-traditional-catholics-must-be-music-to-the-vaticans-ears\/\" title=\"FBI\u2019s Targeting Of Traditional Catholics Must Be Music To The Vatican\u2019s Ears\">persistent thorn<\/a> in Trump&#8217;s \u200bside after he lost \u2062the 2020 elections to President Joe \u2062Biden. Trump&#8217;s Georgia woes \u200dculminated this week when Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis indicted him \u2064and 18 others for allegedly interfering in the \u200cstate&#8217;s 2020 election results late \u2063Monday night.<\/p>\n<h3>Georgia Governor Brian Kemp Looks to the Future<\/h3>\n<p>Kemp told Erickson that despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-student-was-sodomized-with-a-pole-at-his-public-high-school-this-california-congressional-hopeful-rejected-his-damages-claim\/\" title=\"A Student Was Sodomized With a Pole at His Public High School. Kemp emphasized the \u200bimportance of focusing on \u2064the future to defeat President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;It should be such an easy\u200d path for us to win the White House back, but if we\u2062 are looking in the rearview mirror, and this is\u2063 what my message has \u200cbeen to every candidate\u2064 in the race, including \u200dformer President Trump, is we have to be focused on\u200d the future,&#8221; Kemp added. &#8220;Not \u2064something that happened three years ago. We don&#8217;t need to be \u200dfocusing on stupid things that aren&#8217;t going to happen before this election. We can\u200c deal \u2063with that later after we win.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kemp also cautioned the Republican Party that\u200b Georgia is \u200ca critical battleground in the 2024 race.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The road to the White House is running through Georgia, y&#8217;all. If we don&#8217;t win this state, we are not\u2064 winning the White\u200c House,&#8221; Kemp\u2062 said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Nikki Haley Calls for Moving Beyond \u200bTrump&#8217;s Leadership<\/h3>\n<p>Former\u200d U.N. Ambassador Nikki \u2062Haley echoed Kemp&#8217;s sentiment, calling for the GOP to move beyond\u200b Trump&#8217;s leadership in order to win next year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-criminal-investigation-ramps-up-over-attempts-to-overturn-2020-election\/\" title=\"Intensified probe into election overturn attempts.\">presidential\u2062 election<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I think that President Trump was the right president at the right time. I agree with so many of his policies, but at the end of \u2063the day, we have to win in\u200d November, and it is time to put \u200dthat negativity and drama behind us,&#8221; Haley said. &#8220;We can&#8217;t keep \u2063talking about\u200d the past. We \u2063have got to talk about how we are going to take\u200c America\u2063 to a new future that is full of peace and law and order and opportunities for our\u2063 children. And in \u200dorder to do that, we have to have \u200ba new conservative leader. \u200dWe have to have a new \u200dperson that&#8217;s going to go forward and start giving us solutions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Former Vice President Mike Pence Looks Forward to Debating Trump<\/h3>\n<p>Former Vice President \u200cMike Pence expressed his pride\u2063 in the\u2062 Trump-Pence administration but also stated that he looks forward to debating Trump \u200don the stage.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I always stood loyally by President Donald Trump until my oath to the Constitution required me to do otherwise,&#8221; Pence said. &#8220;But my\u2063 differences \u200dwith the president go far beyond that fateful day. And I hope to have a chance to debate them with him. Sometimes people ask me how do you envision debating Donald Trump? I \u2063say, I&#8217;ve debated Donald Trump a thousand times, just not \u200cwhen the cameras are on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump has\u2062 indicated that he will \u200dnot attend \u200dthe\u200c Republican National Committee&#8217;s first primary debate \u2062cosponsored with Fox News. Instead, he will sit down with Tucker\u200c Carlson\u2064 for an online\u2064 interview, \u200dpotentially depriving his rivals of media attention from the debate.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, other 2024 rivals, including\u200b former New Jersey Gov.\u2063 Chris Christie and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, will speak with Erickson, where he will likely ask them why\u200c they, and not Trump, should become the next\u200b president of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>As\u200c for \u200cTrump, he is \u200crequired to surrender to the Fulton County jail\u200b at Rice Street \u200bby Aug. 25 at noon,\u200d where his fingerprints and mugshot will be taken.
