The state&#8217;s permissive\u200b laws on commercial surrogacy and \u2063in-vitro fertilization (IVF) have made it an attractive \u2062destination for Chinese couples\u2064 seeking these services.<\/p>\n<p>Surrogacy is completely banned in China, so Chinese couples turn to American fertility clinics to create embryos with their biological \u2062makeup and have the baby in the United\u200d States. This is made\u200b possible by the birthright\u2064 citizenship laws, which grant the child full U.S. citizenship, regardless \u200bof \u200btheir \u200dChinese nationality.<\/p>\n<p>Emma Waters explained\u200c in\u2063 an interview\u200c on Epoch\u200c TV\u2019s \u201cCrossroads\u201d program that when the child turns 21, even\u200d the parents\u2064 can\u2062 apply for a\u200b green card and eventually obtain citizenship, which\u2063 is a faster and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-rent-a-womb-industry-thrives-due-to-demand-from-parents-in-china-researcher\/\" title=\"US surrogacy industry flourishes as Chinese parents drive demand, says researcher.\">cheaper process compared<\/a> to traditional methods.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Threat to\u2063 National Security<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Emma\u2062 Waters emphasized that granting foreign nationals access to \u2064American\u200d citizenship through American women poses a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/serious-concerns-gop-leaders-demand-answers-over-russians-illegally-crossing-americas-southern-border\/\" title=\"\u2018Serious Concerns\u2019: GOP Leaders Demand Answers Over Russians Illegally Crossing America\u2019s Southern Border\">significant national security threat<\/a>. These\u2063 children, who have been raised \u2062in China and are\u200c loyal to their homeland, are not flagged as foreign\u200b nationals when they apply for jobs or work in research \u2062labs in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Waters\u200c highlighted the lack of a publicly available database listing these children, making it difficult for employers to \u2063know their background. Many fertility\u200c clinics in\u200b California have direct or indirect\u2063 connections to China, offering Chinese\u2063 language options and employing doctors or administrators who have lived in China.<\/p>\n<p>According \u200dto Ms. Waters,\u200c some fertility clinics have reported that up to 50 percent\u2064 of \u2064their clients in a given year are from China alone. Chinese nationals have expressed the desire to have a child with dual U.S. and Chinese citizenship to have \u200cthe option of \u2063choosing which country to live in the future.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. market for fertility clinic \u200bservices was estimated at nearly $8 \u2064billion in 2022\u200d and is expected to \u200dmore than\u200d double\u200d by\u2062 the end of 2028.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Changing\u200c Essence of Childbearing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Emma Waters \u200cpointed out that the way childbearing is viewed in the United States started changing after the Supreme Court&#8217;s ruling in\u2063 the Roe\u2062 v.
