Jan. 6 case because the Justice Department&#8217;s proposed trial \u200ddate of Jan. 2, 2024 conflicts with proceedings in Trump&#8217;s other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/navalny-speaks-about-faith-in-god-after-russian-court-rejects-his-appeal\/\" title=\"Navalny Speaks About Faith In God After Russian Court Rejects His Appeal\">pending legal matters<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LTIRoqRhAN\">https:\/\/t.co\/LTIRoqRhAN<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NaCsqX0AXU\">pic.twitter.com\/NaCsqX0AXU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Democracy Docket (@DemocracyDocket) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DemocracyDocket\/status\/1692535899307851936?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 18, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script type=\"text\/plain\" data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" async data-cmplz-src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Last week, special counsel member Jack Smith requested D.C \u2064district judge Tanya Chutkan to schedule the \u200btrial for January 2024, citing it would be in the public\u2019s best \u2062interest expediting the trial. <\/p>\n<p>The former\u2064 president was recently indicted \u2064for the fourth time on charges that he conspired to defraud the United States, conspired to obstruct an official proceeding, obstructed an official proceeding and engaged in a conspiracy against rights. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cA January 2<sup>nd<\/sup> trial date would vindicate the public\u2019s strong interest in\u2063 a speedy trial,\u201d prosecutors wrote. \u201cIt is\u2063 difficult to imagine\u200d a public\u2064 interest \u200cstronger than the one in this casein which the defendant, the \u200cformer president of\u200d the United States is charged with three criminal conspiracies.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, Trump\u2019s team \u2064made the argument for the new trial date, claiming it is necessary because of the amount of documents they will have to review as well as scheduling conflicts due \u200dto other cases\u200b Trump is facing.\u200d The team also cited it would be a rushed trial having it in January 2024.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cIf we were to print and stack \u200c11.5 million pages of documents, with no gap between pages, at 200 pages per inch, the result \u2062would be a tower of paper \u200cstretching nearly \u200b5,000 feet into the sky,\u201d Trump\u2019s\u200d team wrote. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump during\u200c his tenure as president and outside of his presidency has\u2062 been up for impeachment twice and has been indicted in four separate \u2062cases. <\/p>\n<p>Judge Chutkan announced she wants to set a trial\u200c date at the next scheduled hearing on August 28<sup>th<\/sup>. <\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
