House\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Ongoing Investigation into Former CEO of Project Veritas<\/h2>\n<p>OAN\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/abril-elfi\" target=\"_blank\">Abril Elfi<\/a><br \/>3:25 PM \u2013 Friday, August 18, 2023<\/p>\n<p>The former CEO of the nonprofit Project Veritas, James O\u2019Keefe, is \u2063currently\u2063 the subject of an ongoing investigation. <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The founder of \u200bProject Veritas is being investigated by\u200d the Westchester County District Attorney\u2019s Office after his dismissal from the company in February \u2062overcharges of mistreating employees and mishandling funds.<\/p>\n<p>According to the project board, \u200dhe spent \u201can excessive amount of donor funds in the \u2064last three years on personal luxuries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The board \u2062accused O\u2019Keefe of spending \u201c$14,000 on a charter flight to meet someone to fix his boat \u200cunder the guise of meeting with a donor,\u201d overspending on high-end limo services,\u200d and pocketing\u200c thousands more for personal DJ\u2064 equipment. <\/p>\n<p>They also \u200dclaimed the former\u2064 CEO requested $60,000 for \u201cdance\u200d events,\u201d including the \u2064creation of the Project Veritas Experience, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/james-okeefe-under-investigation-regarding-project-veritas\/\" title=\"James O'Keefe investigated for Project Veritas.\">semi-autobiographical pop music celebration<\/a> of his life in journalism. <\/p>\n<p>District Attorney Miriam Rocah\u2019s investigation follows\u200c civil lawsuits, criminal investigations, and the six-figure court losses \u200cthat have trailed to the group when O\u2019Keefe was still the leader. It also includes a still-open federal investigation into \u2064the theft of President Biden\u2019s daughter Ashley Biden\u2019s belongings.<\/p>\n<p>Jin \u2062Whang, director of public affairs at the office, responded\u2063 to\u200b a statement regarding the investigation.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe\u2064 don\u2019t talk\u2063 about how \u2062we start our investigations,\u201d Whang said. \u201cBut \u2062if you want confirmation that we were and are [investigating O\u2019Keefe], then yes.
