As \u200dthe first university in the country to implement such a requirement in March 2021, Rutgers \u200chas remained\u200c steadfast in its stance, even as the federal\u200b government ended the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-abuses-emergency-powers-to-grow-the-welfare-state\/\" title=\"Biden Abuses Emergency Powers to Grow the Welfare State\">pandemic emergency declaration<\/a> in May and\u2064 many Americans believe the pandemic \u2062is over.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s baffling to see that from what should \u2064be a leading \u200dvoice \u200bof\u2062 science-based rationality, comes arbitrary garbage,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Republican \u2063New Jersey state Sen. Declan O&#8217;Scanlon<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Republican New Jersey state Sen. Declan O&#8217;Scanlon expressed his frustration with the university&#8217;s policy, stating, &#8220;It\u2019s\u200d a \u2063ludicrous policy; any benefit there might have been from the\u2062 initial vaccine has long since \u200dwaned \u200din the face of continuously evolving strains.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky acknowledged in July\u2062 2021 that the vaccines do not fully prevent infection or transmission of the\u2062 virus. This admission led to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-takes-his-kids-out-of-a-summer-camp-because-masks-werent-required\/\" title=\"Newsom Takes His Kids Out Of A Summer Camp Because Masks Weren\u2019t Required\">updated masking guidelines<\/a>, raising questions about the \u200befficacy of additional protocols.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Requiring 3 COVID vax for college freshman is \u200cnot just bad science but malpractice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Sen. Rand\u200d Paul (R-KY)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has been a vocal critic\u2062 of vaccine mandates\u2063 and safety. \u2062He called out Rutgers \u2062for maintaining its policy, highlighting the potential risks associated with the COVID vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being one\u200d of\u2062 fewer \u2063than 100 \u200dinstitutions of higher learning in the country with a vaccine mandate for the fall 2023 semester, Rutgers\u2062 is not alone. Other notable schools, including Harvard University, Wellesley College, the Juilliard School, and \u2063Johns Hopkins \u2064University, also have similar requirements.<\/p>\n<p>While Rutgers does offer an exemption option, it \u2063is evaluated on\u200b a case-by-case \u200dbasis and not automatically granted. \u2064Even if\u2064 an exemption is approved, students may \u200bnot \u200dbe guaranteed access to \u200don-campus classes or housing.<\/p>\n<p>Students who refuse to comply with the vaccine mandate are \u2063encouraged to\u200c pursue online\u200b education instead.<\/p>\n<p>In January, \u2064Children&#8217;s Health \u200dDefense, a group founded by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., \u200dfiled an appeal in \u200dfederal court \u2064for \u2063a lawsuit against \u2062Rutgers. The initial\u200c lawsuit was dismissed in September 2022. \u2062The appeals \u2062court heard the case in late \u200dJune, but it remains uncertain whether the university will enforce its mandate or go as far as disenrolling non-compliant students.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Good\u200c job Rutgers for putting another stake in the heart\u200c of the credibility of institutions\u200b of\u2063 higher \u2062education and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rutgers-students-face-disenrollment-over-coronavirus-vaccine-mandate-requirements\/\" title=\"Rutgers students risk losing enrollment due to COVID vaccine mandate.\">greater health policy \u2062community<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>-\u200b Sen. Declan O&#8217;Scanlon<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sen.
