The young man had dropped out of school,\u200d fallen \u2062in with the wrong crowd, and died in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ill-gang-related-shooting-leaves-2-dead-2-in-custody\/\" title=\"Ill. gang-related shooting leaves 2 dead, 2 in custody\">gang-related shooting<\/a>. \u201cThat could have been my son Michael,\u201d Leigh Anne\u2063 says right before the\u2062 credits roll. \u201cI suppose\u200d I have \u200bGod to thank for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A \u200ddecade later, \u2062it\u2019s hard to imagine a film from a\u200b major studio ending that way. The film began with Leigh Anne Tuohy seeing a homeless teenager named Michael Oher walking down \u200cthe street in \u2064the cold. She and her husband Sean decided to take care of him. Finally, after years of sacrifice, Oher goes to college and eventually\u2063 goes on to become a successful NFL player.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, when audiences weren\u2019t \u2062lobotomized by procedurally generated Marvel slop,\u200b that plotline resonated. \u201cThe Blind Side\u201d made \u2063over $300\u200c million on \u200ba relatively small budget. Sandra Bullock won \u200dan Oscar, although as she herself \u200dadmitted during filming, her acting wasn\u2019t\u200b even that good. Leigh Anne Tuohy\u2063 used the film\u2019s success to help\u2063 children find foster homes on social media. \u200cOutside of a few whiny articles on NPR or The Daily Beast, people loved the movie.<\/p>\n<p>In the years that followed the film\u2019s release, though, the tone changed. \u200cAs Barack Obama \u200dset\u200b race relations in this country backward by 50 years, academics \u2014 the source of \u2062most \u2063bad ideas and cynicism in the world \u2014 for some reason began obsessing over \u201cThe Blind Side.\u201d They kept writing about it years after\u2063 everyone \u200belse had moved on. In\u200b 2015, \u200bfor\u2063 example, a Clemson professor wrote this article\u2063 in the journal \u200d\u201cStudies in Popular Culture.\u201d \u200bHere\u2019s the title:\u2062 \u201cRacial Discourse in \u2018The Blind Side\u2019: The Economics and Ideology Behind the\u200b White Savior Format.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2062 same\u200d year, a University of New Mexico professor authored a piece entitled \u201cThe White Cinematic\u2062 Lens: Decoding the Racial Messages in The Blind Side.\u201d<br \/> As the years progressed, so did \u200cthe Left\u2019s obsession with \u201cThe\u200c Blind Side.\u201d Their fixation continued after \u2063the Obama\u2064 years.\u200c In 2019, a professor \u200bat\u200b Texas State \u2064University somehow attempted to connect Donald Trump with \u201cThe Blind Side,\u201d with a piece\u2062 entitled \u201cColorblind Racism, The Trump Effect, and The Blind Side.\u201d If you want\u200c to \u200close 50\u200c IQ points, you can read the \u200babstract online.<\/p>\n<p>That same year, in 2019, the popular YouTube channel\u200d \u201cBe Kind Rewind\u201d released this \u200dvideo, explaining that the movie has \u2062a \u201cwhite savior problem\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Got it? The film should have been about all the \u200bpeople who didn\u2019t\u200c house or educate or care \u200babout Michael Oher. It should\u200d have been about the\u200d kids who played basketball with\u2062 him. Why? Because \u200bthey\u2019re black, and the family that took care of Michael Oher is white. That\u2019s the level of analysis.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>All of these articles and videos \u2014 and plenty more examples I\u200c could have used \u2014 demonstrate that \u201cThe Blind Side\u201d\u200c triggered a deep, underlying pathology that tortures the supposedly intellectual Left. They simply cannot \u2062tolerate the \u2062film\u2019s message. To this day, \u2062they cannot get over it. And \u200cthey definitely can\u2019t allow any other\u200d major studio\u2062 to make a\u200d film like it.<\/p>\n<p>In the past few days, predictably, this effort has \u2064entered \u200ca \u2062new, somehow even\u2062 more demented and tragic stage. Michael\u2064 Oher \u2064filed a legal complaint against the Tuohys. The media is promoting it relentlessly.\u2064 They could not be more thrilled by \u2062this development. \u2064Watch:<\/p>\n<p>The crux of \u2062the \u200blegal complaint is that the Tuohys tricked Michael Oher \u200binto\u2064 thinking he was adopted when, in \u2062fact, the Tuohys simply had a conservatorship over him, allowing them to take most of his money. So, they\u2019re not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-the-media-is-so-eager-to-smear-the-blind-side-family\/\" title=\"Media's eagerness to tarnish 'The Blind Side' family\">good-hearted white people helping<\/a> out a black kid.\u2062 They\u2019re evil \u2062white\u200d supremacist thieves. That\u2019s\u2063 the idea.<\/p>\n<p>Before we \u200bget into the actual complaint, a couple of points. First of all, that report you just saw implies that the Tuohys defrauded Oher\u2062 because they\u2063 wanted money. What they don\u2019t mention is that the \u200dTuohys are extraordinarily \u2063wealthy. \u2062In fact, \u200bthey\u2019re far\u2064 wealthier than\u2064 Oher has ever\u200b been, even after his NFL career. But we\u2019re expected to believe that this family \u200d\u2014 which is worth well over $200 \u200cmillion \u2014 \u2063schemed\u2064 to rip off \u2064Michael\u200d Oher.<\/p>\n<p>Is that plausible? Right away, it doesn\u2019t pass the smell test, as I said a few days ago. \u2062It sounds a lot \u200dlike a washed-up athlete who burned through the cash he made in the league, and now he\u2019s looking for a payday and some relevance. And indeed, Oher\u2019s\u200d claim is especially suspicious, since \u200caccording \u200cto the Tuohys, Oher has been shaking them down for $15 million for\u2062 a long time now. Allegedly, he\u200d filed this\u200b lawsuit only after trying to get the quick cash \u2063from a family he knows is rich, \u2064and\u200d which still loves him.<\/p>\n<h3>WATCH: The Matt Walsh \u2062Show<\/h3>\n<p>But\u2062 there are \u2062more problems with this complaint, beyond the \u2063ones I just mentioned. For this accusation\u200d to make\u2062 sense, the Tuohys would have \u2063had to see \u2062this homeless teenager \u200dwalking on the side\u2063 of \u200cthe road, and say to themselves, this kid is going to make us rich. His \u200dgrades are terrible. No college program is interested in him. His father abandoned him. \u200cHis mother is a drug addict. But he\u2019s \u200cgoing to make us a lot of money\u2063 some \u200bday. And\u200b then there\u2019s going to be a movie about \u2062him, and\u200d we\u2019ll\u200d get royalties from that. And\u200d through all this, as they raise him and send him to\u200c college, Oher is blissfully unaware of\u200b this\u200b scheme \u2014\u2063 for more than a decade. And then it hits\u200d him.<\/p>\n<p>Quoting from Oher\u2019s legal complaint:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cThe \u200blie of Michael\u2019s adoption \u2063is\u2062 one upon which Co-Conservators \u200bLeigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy have enriched themselves\u2063 at the expense of their Ward, the undersigned Michael Oher. Michael Oher discovered this lie to his chagrin and embarrassment in February of 2023,\u200d when he learned that the Conservatorship to which he consented on the basis that doing so would make him a member of\u2063 the Tuohy family, in fact provided him no\u2062 familiar relationship with the Tuohys.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So, the claim is that Michael Oher realized only \u2063in\u2063 February of 2023 that \u200che hadn\u2019t been legally adopted. It took him until this year to figure that\u2064 out. Is that possible?<\/p>\n<p>Corporate\u200b media is certainly buying it, with no skepticism \u200cwhatsoever. \u2062NBC \u200dwrote \u200cup the allegations without applying \u2062any form of scrutiny. MSNBC wants you to know that this is \u2064all your fault.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cOher\u2019s lawsuit is an indictment of movie audiences that over and over again lap up stories about white people saving some downtrodden Black person.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>You might listen to that quote from the MSNBC article and wonder \u2064what\u200c universe MSNBC is\u200d living in. Because in this universe movies about white people saving black \u2062people are extremely rare. And\u2064 at this point basically non-existent.<\/p>\n<p>For its\u200b part, The Guardian brought out the big guns. They report that, \u201cThe Blind Side\u2019s white savior tale \u2062was always built on shaky \u200bground.\u201d According to the piece:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cThe movie version\u2062 of The Blind Side\u2063 has come to \u2062represent a \u2062low point for the white savior trope \u2013 the unlikely story of the rich white lady who turns \u2064a downtrodden Black teen hulk into an improbable Sunday pro.\u200d Jeffery\u2064 Montez de Oca, the founding \u200cdirector of the Center \u200dfor Critical Study of Sport at \u200cthe University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, took aim at the film\u2019s framing of adoption as \u2064\u2018a signifying act of whiteness\u2062 that obscures the social relations of\u2063 domination that not \u200donly make charity possible, but also creates an urban underclass in\u200c need of charity.\u2019 \u2063In her seminal tome White Fragility, Robin DiAngelo excoriates \u200bthe film as \u2018fundamentally and insidiously anti-Black.&#8217;\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>What \u200ball these stories have in common is that they don\u2019t interrogate the claims in Oher\u2019s lawsuit at all. The \u200cmedia is so giddy \u2063that \u201cThe Blind Side\u201d is under attack that they don\u2019t \u2062care to do any actual journalism. They just trot out the usual fake experts to call it racist, as they\u2019ve been doing for a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Inside Edition even got in touch with the actor who\u2063 portrays Michael Oher in \u200dthe film, to ask him whether Sandra Bullock should\u2062 surrender her\u2063 Oscar. A \u200dquestion so stupid that the actor should respond \u200cby\u200c laughing hysterically, but that\u2019s not exactly what happens:<\/p>\n<p>Notice the snark at the end. The movie grossed over $300 million, the anchor notes, implying that \u2063the Tuohys somehow received all of that money, or even a significant amount of it. In reality, they received less than 3% of the proceeds, which is nothing\u2064 compared to the \u200d$200 million\u200d they sold their company for. This is the level of \u200c\u201creporting\u201d we\u2019re seeing on this, \u2064with one exception.<\/p>\n<p>Over at \u2064The\u200b Blaze, Jason Whitlock decided not to simply\u200d rewrite Oher\u2019s complaint to push a narrative. He wrote some fantastic articles \u2064on this topic \u2062you should read, and he motivated\u200b me to personally go and read\u2062 some of the many pieces of documented evidence contradicting Michael \u200cOher\u2019s claims.\u200d These are \u2064pieces of evidence that every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/climate-alarmists-panic-over-heat-wave-turns-out-it-was-caused-by-a-volcano\/\" title=\"Climate alarmists in a panic over heat wave discover it was actually caused by a volcano.\">major media \u200boutlet<\/a> is ignoring.<\/p>\n<p>For \u2064example, Here\u2019s what Oher wrote in his memoir in 2012:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cSince I was already over the age of eighteen and \u2063considered an adult by the state of Tennessee, Sean and Leigh Anne would \u200dbe named as my \u2018legal conservators.\u2019 They explained to me that \u200cit\u200c means pretty much the exact\u200c same thing as \u2018adoptive \u2062parents,\u2019 but that\u200d the\u200c laws were just written in a way that took \u2064my age into account.\u2062 Honestly, I didn\u2019t care what it was called \u2026 My mother was\u200c going to be at the hearing\u200c to agree that she supported the decision to have the Tuohys listed as my next of \u2064kin\u200b and legal conservators.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That was more than a decade ago. Michael Oher, an adult in his mid-20s at the time of that memoir\u2019s\u200b publication, clearly acknowledges \u200dthe distinction between \u200dbeing \u2063adopted and being a legal conservator. He admits \u2062that he\u200d was NOT adopted. He uses the term \u201cconservators\u201d several times in the\u200d book. But we\u2019re told to believe that more than ten years later, \u200bhe finally decided\u2063 to look into it and realized he \u2062had \u2064been tricked. We\u2019re supposed to \u200bbelieve that he\u2062 just realized \u200csome\u2063 truth that he himself had \u200dalready publicly acknowledged in a\u200d book he published over ten years ago.<\/p>\n<p>So how was Michael Oher \u2063supposedly not aware of any of this? Did he not read his own memoir? Did he not\u2063 watch the movie \u201cThe\u2064 Blind Side\u201d? There\u2019s a scene in the\u200d film where Leigh Anne establishes legal guardianship over Michael Oher. There\u2019s no scene where\u200d she says that she\u2019s legally adopting him. Why is that?<\/p>\n<p>To be clear, I can\u2019t say for\u200d sure who\u2062 is \u200cright or wrong in this case,\u200c though I have my very \u200dstrong suspicions. It wouldn\u2019t surprise me if all \u2062parties concerned \u200dare at least partially in the wrong to some extent. That\u2019s usually how\u2063 these kinds of conflicts go. And if the media wants to tell us that the Tuohys aren\u2019t really \u201csaviors,\u201d I would \u200ccertainly agree with that. There\u2019s only one\u2062 Savior, and his name isn\u2019t Tuohy. But then again, the Tuohys\u200d never claimed to be saviors. They also never claimed \u2063to be saints or martyrs. They did a nice thing for a kid\u200d who \u2063needed help. That\u2019s a\u200b fact. And that\u2019s all. Does this conflict \u2062stem from the fact that although the \u200dTuohys became Oher\u2019s guardians and treated \u200dhim like a son, they don\u2019t intend to actually pass their fortune\u2062 down to him because they\u2062 want it to go \u200dto their actual\u200c kids? Is Michael Oher\u200c upset that he\u2019s not \u2063now, today, as a 37-year-old man, reaping the financial benefits of being a blood relation to the \u2063Tuohys? These are purely\u2063 speculations.\u2063 But I think reasonable ones.<\/p>\n<p>The key \u2063point is that the media\u2019s complete lack of curiosity on all of these obvious red flags tells you everything you need to know\u200c about the Left\u2019s perspective on\u2062 race. A decade ago, \u2063only a handful\u200c of \u200binsufferable outlets complained about \u201cThe Blind Side.\u201d Now all of academia and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-he-guilty-of-sexual-misconduct-depends-on-his-political-party\/\" title=\"Is He Guilty Of Sexual Misconduct? Depends On His Political Party.\">major media outlets<\/a> are doing it. They\u2019re united to smear a family that\u2064 helped save a young black teenager\u2019s life, without any regard for facts \u2062or contrary \u2063evidence. After eight years of \u2064Barack Obama, and all those BLM \u2064riots and George Floyd \u2064funerals, we\u2019ve \u2063arrived at this moral guidance:\u2064 \u201cLet\u200c the black teenager on the side \u2063of the road\u2062 freeze to death. Don\u2019t help him, or you\u2019re a racist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At least now we have some clarity \u2062from the party of \u201cBlack Lives Matter,\u201d and from the corporate media. Somehow a sports \u200dmovie from 2009 has led them all to \u200dadmit what \u200dthey really think. Better to leave the black kid languishing \u2062in the gutter than reach out and help him. Better to look the \u200cother way than \u200dbe \u200ba \u2064\u201cwhite\u200d savior.\u201d That\u2019s\u2062 the message coming in loud and clear. And\u2063 I suspect that a lot of white people who have watched\u2063 this Michael \u200bOher\u200b saga play out, and who have seen everything that\u2019s happened over the past decade or so, are going\u200c to\u200c take the message \u200cto heart and respond accordingly. The next Michael Oher, the\u2062 next disadvantaged black kid \u200dwho \u2063needs \u200da helping\u200c hand, might \u200dnot get\u2063 it. He might end up suffering the fate that Oher likely would have suffered had the Tuohys not stepped in. That\u2019s apparently what the Left wants.
