Special counsel Jack Smith's  million taxpayer expenditure.\">special counsel leading<\/a> the Justice Department&#8217;s investigation of \u2062Hunter Biden, last week\u200b said \u200bhe may be heading to trial\u2064 on\u2063 charges of tax evasion and a gun charge, after a judge refused to accept a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/soros-backed-prosecutor-accosts-security-guards-at-courthouse-checkpoint\/\" title=\"Soros-Backed Prosecutor Accosts Security Guards at Courthouse Checkpoint\">proposed plea deal<\/a> to \u200dsettle the charges.<\/p>\n<p>That raises\u200c the possibility that President Biden&#8217;s son\u200d could face a criminal trial as his father is seeking reelection,\u200d in a likely rematch with former\u200c president \u2063Donald\u2062 Trump, who faces\u200c his own broad array of legal woes.<\/p>\n<p>Late last month, a former Hunter \u2063Biden business\u200b associate told investigators that the president&#8217;s son gave the impression to Burisma executives that he had\u2063 leverage \u2063because of his father and sold those family \u200bties\u2064 as part of his\u2062 business brand.<\/p>\n<p>But the witness, Devon \u200bArcher, said that \u200cwhile Hunter\u2062 Biden had his \u2064father talk to \u2064associates\u200b and \u200bothers by speakerphone about 20 times over 10 years, the conversations \u2064did not involve any business dealings. Archer said he was not \u2062aware of any wrongdoing by the elder\u2062 Biden.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Joe Biden has \u2063stated there was &#8216;an \u2062absolute wall&#8217; between his family&#8217;s foreign \u200cbusiness schemes and his\u2062 duties as vice president. But evidence reveals that access was wide\u200c open for his family&#8217;s influence peddling,&#8221; Comer alleged in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The\u2063 <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">National<\/span> <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">Archives<\/span> must provide these unredacted\u200d records to further our \u200dinvestigation into the Biden family&#8217;s corruption,&#8221;\u2063 the Republican said.<\/p>\n<h3>Hunter Biden faces charges of tax evasion and unlawful firearm\u200d possession<\/h3>\n<p>After the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-seek-joe-and-hunter-bidens-emails-from-national-archives\/\" title=\"GOP Seeks Bidens' Emails from National Archives\">proposed plea deal collapsed<\/a>, Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty in\u200c July to charges of failing to \u200bpay \u2062taxes on more than \u200b$1.5 million in income in 2017\u200b and 2018 despite owing more than $100,000. \u2062He did not\u200c enter a plea in a \u200dseparate case where\u2064 he is charged with unlawfully owning a firearm while using illegal drugs,\u200b which is a felony.<\/p>\n<p>(Reporting by David Morgan; Editing by Scott\u2063 Malone and \u2062Jonathan Oatis)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican lawmaker James Comer, leading a probe into Hunter Biden&#8217;s business dealings, requested unredacted emails and documents between President Joe Biden and his son from the National Archives.
