It held above the\u200b BOJ&#8217;s 2% inflation target\u2064 for the 16th straight month.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called core-core inflation index, which\u2063 excludes fresh\u200c food and \u200cenergy prices and is closely watched by the BOJ as a better gauge of trend \u200binflation, rose 4.3% year-on-year in July, accelerating from the previous month.<\/p>\n<p>The central\u200b bank argues that wage pressures have \u2063yet to build up enough to warrant a fresh\u2064 tweak to\u2062 the ultra-loose \u200bmonetary stance.<\/p>\n<p>Still,\u200d analysts say an acceleration in service-led\u2064 inflation is a positive sign that\u2064 demand-side\u2064 inflation,\u200b which the BOJ is looking\u2062 to stoke, may be \u2062building.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The data confirmed that price pressures are rising in service-sector such\u2063 as accommodation as well \u200cas food, while\u2064 import inflation including energy\u2063 is calming\u2063 down,&#8221; said Takeshi Minami, chief economist at Norinchukin Research Institute.<\/p>\n<p>Gabriel Ng, economist at Capital Economics, said\u200d the key question is whether services\u200c inflation \u200dcan pick up the baton.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With unit labour costs \u200bbarely \u2063rising \u2062and consumer spending starting to falter as real incomes are falling sharply, \u200dwe doubt that it will,&#8221; said Ng.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Accordingly, we still expect\u200c the Bank of Japan to\u200d keep its \u2064short-term policy rate unchanged for the foreseeable future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Food costs were among the major contributors \u2062to the overall inflation due to elevated prices of raw materials.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2063data comes after the BOJ&#8217;s closely watched policy meeting\u2064 late last month in which the central\u2064 bank tweaked monetary policy to allow the 10-year \u2062bond yield cap to move more flexibly.<\/p>\n<p>BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda has\u200b stressed the need to keep <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/macro-gamblers-grapple-with-immovable-bank-of-japan\/\" title=\"Macro gamblers grapple with immovable Bank of Japan\">policy ultra-loose<\/a> until\u200d cost-push inflation \u200dshifts into one driven by robust \u2062domestic demand \u200dand higher wage growth.<\/p>\n<p>Under the BOJ&#8217;s yield curve control, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/japans-core-inflation-eases-bolstering-view-boj-will-stand-pat\/\" title=\"Japan's core inflation eases, supporting the belief that the BOJ will maintain its current stance.\">bank guides short-term interest\u2063 rates<\/a> \u200dat -0.1% \u200band buys huge amounts of government bonds to cap the 10-year bond yield around 0% as\u2063 part of efforts to fire up inflation to its 2% target.<\/p>\n<p>  (Reporting by Tetsushi\u200c Kajimoto.
