However, Barr \u2064also predicted that Trump would\u200d face\u200d conviction in one of the two federal \u2064cases he currently faces by next summer.<\/p>\n<p>Barr made these remarks during a captivating \u200cinterview on \u2064Fox News Thursday afternoon, following Trump&#8217;s recent charges \u200cof\u200c 13 felonies in Georgia. These \u2062charges stem from\u200d allegations\u2063 of Trump&#8217;s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWell, I\u2019m not happy with the Georgia case,\u201d\u2063 Barr said. \u201cI think it\u2019s much too sweeping, much too broad, excessive case that is \u2014 make it look like people are piling on and \u2062being excessive to Trump and\u200d feed the narrative that he\u2019s being victimized here. And I also think there\u2019s merit in\u200d the point that this is a case that I\u200d don\u2019t think is going to be triable before\u2063 the election. It\u2019s just too sprawling.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Barr didn&#8217;t stop there. He also vehemently criticized the charges brought \u200cby the Manhattan District Attorney&#8217;s Office, labeling them as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-trumps-defense-team-slams-impeachment-trial-as-political-vengeance-by-democrats\/\" title=\"President Trump\u2019s defense team slams impeachment trial as \u2018political vengeance\u2019 by Democrats\">political hit job<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite \u2063his defense, Barr expressed his belief that Trump would ultimately be convicted on some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/manhattan-das-office-now-coming-after-melania-trump-in-hush-money-case\/\" title=\"Manhattan DA targets Melania Trump in hush-money case.\">numerous felony counts<\/a> he faces in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/obamas-former-doctor-slams-bidens-press-conference-performance-he-struggled-to-make-it-through\/\" title=\"Obama\u2019s Former Doctor Slams Biden\u2019s Press Conference Performance: \u2018He Struggled To Make It Through\u2019\">federal criminal investigations<\/a>. These \u200binvestigations revolve \u200daround Trump&#8217;s handling\u2063 of classified material \u200cand his \u200calleged actions to overturn the election.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI think the federal cases are\u2064 legitimate,\u201d\u200b he\u2064 said. \u201cAt the end of the day, at the core of this thing, he engaged, in the case\u200b of the \u200ddocuments, in outrageous behavior where anyone would be \u200bprosecuted. I don\u2019t know of \u200dany <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-ag-barr-authorizes-federal-prosecutors-to-pursue-substantial-allegations-of-voting-irregularities-before-2020-election-is-certified\/\" title=\"BREAKING: AG Barr Authorizes Federal Prosecutors to Pursue \"Substantial Allegations\" of Voting Irregularities Before 2020 Election is Certified\">attorney general<\/a> who could walk away\u200b from it. He\u2019s not \u200cbeing prosecuted for having the documents. He\u2019s being prosecuted for obstruction \u2014 two egregious\u200d instances are alleged. So, I think that\u2019s a very simple case, and that \u2062should be tried. If the judge is\u200c anywhere competent, that can be concluded \u200cbefore the summer, and the other case after the election,\u200d he, in my opinion, he did cross the line. It wasn\u2019t just rough and tumble politics.
