Youngkin&#8217;s Office Calls Out Fairfax \u200dCounty Public Schools \u2063for Defying Transgender Policy<\/h2>\n<p>The office of \u2062Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) has taken aim at Fairfax County Public Schools, the largest school\u200d district in the commonwealth, after its superintendent\u2062 decided to defy the governor&#8217;s transgender policy.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, FCPS Superintendent Michelle Reid\u200c sent a message to district families, boldly vowing to continue the practice of using &#8220;chosen names and pronouns&#8221; for children identifying as transgender. Additionally, the district plans to\u2062 allow these students to use restrooms, locker rooms, and other facilities that align with their gender identity, rather than their biological \u2063sex.<\/p>\n<h3>Heightened Concerns Over Bathroom Policy<\/h3>\n<p>Bathroom policy has become a major concern in Virginia,\u2063 particularly since an incident in 2021 when a boy wearing a \u2063skirt was able to enter the girls&#8217; restroom and sexually\u2064 assault a\u2063 student in neighboring Loudoun County. The former superintendent of Loudoun County schools, Scott Ziegler,\u200c was indicted by \u2062a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ny-prosecutors-convene-grand-jury-to-hear-evidence-in-criminal-investigation-into-trump-others\/\" title=\"NY Prosecutors Convene Grand Jury To Hear Evidence In Criminal Investigation Into Trump, Others\">special grand jury<\/a> in December 2022 following a scathing report on the district&#8217;s mishandling of the\u200d sexual assault response.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The law requires the Virginia Department of Education to provide model policies and requires school boards to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/virginia-school-board-unanimously-votes-against-states-new-transgender-policies-after-community-outrage\/\" title=\"Virginia School Board Unanimously Votes Against State\u2019s New Transgender Policies After Community Outrage\">adopt policies consistent<\/a> with those provided by the Department,&#8221; stated Youngkin spokeswoman Macaulay Porter. &#8220;The \u200dFairfax County Public Schools policies diverge from VDOE model policy guidance and perpetuate a \u2063false notion that FCPS knows what&#8217;s better\u2064 for a child than a child&#8217;s parent.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Porter emphasized that the\u200d Fairfax County school board is expected to\u200c adhere to the law.<\/p>\n<p>FCPS conducted a thorough legal review \u2064and determined that their current policies are \u2063legally permissible under Gov. Youngkin&#8217;s updated Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Public Schools. The Commonwealth&#8217;s Department of Education had \u200dcriticized the previous guidelines for disregarding parental rights and other legal and constitutional principles that impact how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/glenn-youngkin-slams-virginias-largest-school-district-after-transgender-policy-defiance\/\" title=\"Glenn Youngkin criticizes Virginia's biggest school district for defying transgender policy.\">schools \u2064educate transgender students<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new policies require facilities like restrooms,\u2063 locker rooms, and gender-specific activities \u2063to be separated based on a student&#8217;s biological sex.<\/p>\n<p>All 133 school districts in Virginia are required to adopt policies consistent\u2062 with the new guidance.<\/p>\n<p>However, FCPS argues\u200b that their\u2064 persistence on the transgender issue is permissible under federal and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-blasted-for-pushing-racist-policy-in-response-to-hurricane-damage\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris Blasted For Pushing \u2018Racist\u2019 Policy In Response To Hurricane Damage\">state anti-discrimination laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Examiner \u200breached out to FCPS for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Jeremiah Poff contributed to this \u2062report.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
