This\u200b information was intended \u2063to give the team an advantage in purchasing the stadium.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSidhu later was recorded saying he expected a\u200b $1 million campaign contribution \u200bfrom the Angels \u200dafter the baseball club purchased Angel Stadium,\u201d \u2063the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The charges Sidhu will plead guilty to\u200b include obstruction of justice, wire fraud, and\u2062 lying to authorities. If convicted, he could face up to 40 years \u2063in federal \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ted-cruz-says-biden-shouldnt-just-impeached-go-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prison<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sidhu\u2019s attorney, Paul S. Meyer, stated that his client appreciates the thorough investigation by the U.S. attorney\u2019s office. However, Marie Garvey, spokesperson for the Angels, emphasized that both the plea agreement and the city\u2019s investigation\u200c found no evidence of wrongdoing by the Angels organization.<\/p>\n<p>Sidhu resigned as mayor last \u2064year\u2064 after\u200c news of the federal investigation broke.\u2064 The City Council subsequently voided an agreement to sell the city-owned ballpark and surrounding land to the Angels owner, Arte Moreno, for development.<\/p>\n<p>The original deal \u2063would have seen Moreno pay $325 million, with $150 million in cash\u2063 and the rest \u200cin credits\u2063 for affordable housing and a park.
