Calls for Special Session to Review Actions of Fulton County District Attorney<\/h2>\n<p>Republican Georgia State Sen. Colton Moore has called for\u2062 a special session of the \u2063state\u2019s General Assembly\u2064 to\u200c review the actions of Fulton County\u200d District Attorney Fani Willis against former President Donald Trump.\u2062 Moore made\u2064 the request in a letter \u200bto Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) after Willis charged the former president and \u200dhis\u200d allies with attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential\u200c election results, as reported by The Hill.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe, the undersigned, being <a title=\"WATCH: Disney Employee Fires They\u2019re Making \u2018Terrible Miscalculation\u2019 Opposing Florida Parental Rights Law\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-disney-employee-fires-theyre-making-terrible-miscalculation-opposing-florida-parental-rights-law\/\">duly elected members<\/a> of \u200cthe Georgia House of \u200cRepresentatives and Georgia Senate, and\u2064 comprising 3\/5 of each respective house, pursuant \u200cto\u2062 Article IV, Section II, Paragraph VII(b), hereby certify to you, in writing, with\u2063 a copy \u2062to the \u2062Secretary\u200d of State, \u200bthat in our opinion an\u2064 emergency exists\u2063 in\u200b the affairs \u2062of the state, requiring a special session to\u2063 be convened\u200c under\u2062 that section, for all purposes, to include, without limitation, \u2063the review and response \u2062to the \u2063actions of Fani Willis,\u201d the letter said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Moore has called on the assembly to \u201cstrip all funding and, if appropriate, impeach Fani Willis\u201d in a \u200dstatement to Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<p>Kemp has the authority\u200d to call the assembly into session, or 3\/5 of\u2063 both legislative \u200cchambers \u2063can demand\u200b a review of Willis\u2019 \u2062actions, according \u2063to the \u2064outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe legislature has this\u2064 great \u2063check \u200dand\u2064 balance when it comes to controlling\u2063 the purse,\u201d Moore told The Hill. \u201cUltimately, from\u2062 what I\u2019ve seen, I think she should completely be defunded of any state dollars. People in northwest Georgia and Georgians all over don\u2019t want\u200d their tax dollars going to \u2063fund this type of political persecution. If\u2063 it turns out that she\u2019s doing some \u200bcorrupt things, then absolutely\u200c impeach her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1692367770357000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0PjvCHmf-6JEmNrv3nGxwO\">CLICK HERE\u200d TO GET THE \u200dDAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerica is under attack,\u201d Moore said. \u201cI\u2019m not going to \u200dsit back and\u200c watch as\u2063 radical left prosecutors \u200dweaponize their elected\u2062 offices to politically target their opponents.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Willis&#8217; Indictment and Trial Proposal<\/h3>\n<p>Willis launched \u2062a 41-count \u2062indictment against Trump and 18 \u2062co-conspirators for allegedly violating the\u200d state\u2019s version\u200d of \u2062the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and soliciting an\u2064 official to violate their oath of \u2063office.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia\u2019s RICO Act allows \u2062prosecutors \u200dto connect various\u2062 crimes committed by multiple defendants and argue that\u2062 they were working \u2062together toward \u200ba criminal goal \u2014 and were part of a \u201ccriminal enterprise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a filing on Wednesday,\u200d Willis\u2019 team asked the \u200dpresiding judge\u2062 to consider a scheduling order that would have arraignments for\u200d the defendants on the week of September 5\u2062 and a \u200btrial commencing on\u2062 March 4, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who \u200cis facing four criminal indictments, stated he \u200dwould produce \u201cirrefutable\u201d\u2063 evidence at \u2063a press\u200d conference proving that the\u200d 2020 presidential election was stolen. But \u200dacross all the legal matters, Trump has \u2063broadly denied any wrongdoing and has <a title=\"Georgia lawmaker demands special session to investigate Fulton County DA's actions against Trump.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-state-lawmaker-calls-for-special-session-examining-fulton-county-das-actions-against-trump\/\">claimed\u200b politically motivated forces<\/a> are targeting him \u2062in a \u201cwitch hunt\u201d propagated \u2064by\u2063 the Biden administration\u200d and\u200c Democrat prosecutors in New \u2064York and Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>Kemp responded\u200b to the former president\u2019s \u2064claim, saying, \u201cThe 2020 election in Georgia was not stolen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor nearly \u2062three years now, anyone with\u2062 evidence\u200d of \u2062fraud has failed \u2064to \u2064come forward \u2064\u2014 under \u200coath \u2014 and prove anything in a court of\u2062 law,\u201d\u2063 Kemp said. \u201cOur elections in Georgia are secure, accessible, and fair and will continue to\u2062 be as long as I am governor. \u200bThe future of our\u2064 country is at stake in 2024 and that \u2062must be our focus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At a press conference on Monday, Willis\u2063 said she would give the defendants subject to arrest\u200d warrants\u2064 \u201cthe opportunity\u201d to voluntarily surrender by\u200c noon on Friday, August\u200c 25.<\/p>\n<p><em>Daniel Chaitin contributed to \u2064this report.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Georgia State Sen.
