They argued that the rule exceeds the \u2064Commission&#8217;s authority and infringes upon principles of federalism and free markets.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c FTC responded three months later, admitting that it had\u2062 deleted \u200bmaterial likely responsive to the Committee&#8217;s requests. This included records of the employee from the Consumer Financial Protection\u200b Bureau who led the FTC&#8217;s rulemaking.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmakers express dissatisfaction with the FTC&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-presses-ftc-on-alleged-destruction-of-records\/\" title=\"GOP urges FTC to address alleged record destruction.\">record retention policy<\/a>. The report noted that the FTC had made progress in some areas of records management but still struggled with setting up automated practices for proper storage\u2062 and disposal of records.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmakers emphasize that the Federal Records Act imposes \u200drecord-keeping requirements on agencies and criticize the FTC for its struggles to comply with the \u2064law.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Demands for Answers<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Republican lawmakers demand written answers and relevant documents regarding the FTC&#8217;s \u2062response to previous \u2064requests for information. They also seek information on the agency&#8217;s efforts to address issues \u200dwith file management practices.
