So now, he\u2019s trying to get some attention by talking up how much unnamed other people at Fox don\u2019t like them, either.<\/p>\n<p>In an\u2062 interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/podcasts\/geraldo-rivera-reveals-he-got-calls-from-fox-news-colleagues-thanking-him-for-speaking-out-against-tucker-carlson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mediaite<\/a> earlier\u2064 this week, Rivera again talked up his toxic relationship with\u2062 \u201cThe Five\u201d co-panelist Greg Gutfeld (without actually mentioning his \u2063name, as if the\u2064 guy were Voldemort) and his outspoken opposition to Tucker Carlson, but he added a new rift to the conversation: After he called out Tucker, Rivera said,\u200b he claims to have\u200c gotten \u201ccalls from within Fox\u201d telling him\u200b that he was \u201cright on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rivera left Fox News in June after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-warns-about-chinas-worrying-move-beijing-must-have-something-on-biden\/\" title=\"Trump raises concerns about China's alarming action: Beijing likely possesses compromising information on Biden.\">numerous \u2064reports<\/a> that things were going \u2062poorly between him and Gutfeld behind the scenes on \u201cThe Five.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/greg-gutfeld-reportedly-reason-geraldo-rivera-leaving-five-knockdown-drag-fights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Before Rivera\u2019s exit<\/a>, a source told gossip mag <a href=\"https:\/\/radaronline.com\/p\/geraldo-rivera-reason-why-left-the-five-fights-greg-gutfeld\/?fbclid=IwAR30lUJ_kiHluFuuTmwRYVZAKCwkwAlnY_dYL1aZmO2-AWKiB3LMrkuFmv0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Radar Online<\/a> that \u201cGeraldo and Greg do not get along,\u201d and that, \u200dwhile the \u200drivalry was heated on air, \u201cwhat people didn\u2019t see on television is how often that\u200b tension spilled over to off-the-camera.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no love lost between Geraldo and Greg, that is for certain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since his exit, Rivera has gone on \u200ba magical misery\u2062 tour, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/geraldo-reveals-next-stop-liberal-media-outlet-tour-fired-fox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">telling numerous outlets<\/a> that \u2063while\u200b he wasn\u2019t going to name any names, he had a sour relationship with \u200ba horrible,\u2063 awful, terrible, \u200dno-good\u200b co-worker.<\/p>\n<p>That theme continued in his interview with Mediaite, in which he said he didn\u2019t want to discuss \u201cany particular person\u201d he had a beef with (although if he <em>did<\/em>,\u2063 one imagines, it \u2062would be someone whose name rhymes with \u201cReg\u2062 Rutfeld\u201d), but that there were a \u200cwhole lot of people at Fox who were grateful for\u200c the \u200dfact he stood up against Carlson,\u200b whose commentaries on the events of Jan. 6, 2021, Rivera\u2062 labeled as \u201cbulls***\u201d \u200din several\u2062 interviews.<\/p>\n<h3>Support from Within\u2063 Fox News<\/h3>\n<p>Mediaite\u2019s\u2063 Diana Falzone asked Rivera point-blank about the reasons behind his exit: \u201cI have heard rumblings\u200d from Fox News insiders that the tension was between you and Fox\u2019s Greg Gutfeld, who at one point actually berated you \u200don Twitter for objecting to Tucker Carlson\u2019s coverage of Jan. 6,\u201d she said. \u201cWhat happened there?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, \u2062you know, I don\u2019t want to \u2063focus in on any particular person, you can read the record, but I can tell you what happened vis a vis me and Tucker because that was the \u2064real substantive \u200cpart of\u200c it,\u201d Rivera \u2064responded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was shocked \u200band outraged. I mean, I was nauseous over Tucker Carlson\u2019s premise that 9\/11 \u2014 not 9\/11, that Jan. 6 was an inside job,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo Tucker Carlson began floating the idea, and I didn\u2019t know why. I assumed it was \u2062just \u2062evidence-based \u200bin his own mind, floating the idea that Jan. 6 was \u200bfake, that\u2064 it was government agents that\u2062 staged it, the agents provocateur who aggravated everything, that there was no you know, President Trump did not incite a legitimate riot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen what happened is he made his remarks and then, you know, \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/geraldo-says-he-got-surprising-phone-calls-from-fox-news-colleagues-after-criticizing-tucker\/\" title=\"Geraldo receives unexpected calls from Fox News colleagues after criticizing Tucker.\">deep state operators\u200d basically<\/a> took advantage of \u200cit to make Trump look bad,\u2063 which was preposterous. It was ridiculous. It was you know, I actually said it \u2062was\u200b bulls***, is what I said\u200b to The Washington Post or The New York Times \u2026 I forget, one or the other, because I did \u200bseveral interviews between those two papers at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dershowitz-told-obama-pound-sand-potus-asked-disinvite-geraldo-75th-birthday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rivera<\/a> said, he\u200c had \u200csupport \u200bfor his position within Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got calls from \u200cwithin Fox. Right on. You know, we\u2019re shocked, we\u2019re outraged by what Tucker is trying to do. Thank you for speaking out, you know from people that could not speak out,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, I even advised some prominent people just to cool it, that I \u200bcould, I\u2019ll take the heat because I felt that I was more\u2062 bulletproof,\u201d he continued. \u201cI mixed my metaphors there, but I felt \u200cthat I could say \u200bthings that others, \u2064perhaps more vulnerable in \u2064their or more early \u2064in their careers, could not say. And so \u2062I was \u2062suspended for\u200d that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then came his battle with Gutfeld. To hear Rivera\u2063 tell\u200c it, he \u201chad a\u2062 head-to-head\u200b with two incidents, one on abortion rights. I call them insulting punk, and another I forget what it was. They always \u200btook his side. So,\u200d you know,\u200c it\u2019s like I was \u2014 I could sense that I was hanging by \u2063a thread. Anyway, there\u2019s another metaphor. \u2063But the way it \u2062came down, they made a \u2064very pragmatic decision, a business \u200bdecision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Right: The network that let Tucker Carlson go while he was the \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/everything-you-missed-from-cable-news-experts-this-weekend\/\" title=\"Everything You Missed From Cable News \u2018Experts\u2019 This Weekend\">top-rated host<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/are-covid-case-surges-more-fake-news\/\" title=\"Are COVID Case Surges More Fake News?\">cable news<\/a> before Rivera was \u200dallowed to leave on something \u2063resembling his own terms let Geraldo go\u200c because of a \u201cbusiness decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I think\u200d Gutfeld might have gotten a bit closer to the reason why Rivera is no longer the token liberal at Fox \u2063News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/greg-gutfeld-takes-epic-swipe-ex-fox-news-host-geraldo-live-audience-bursts-laughter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a recent quip<\/a> regarding the Hollywood writers\u2019 strike: \u201cMissing Hollywood writers is\u2063 up there \u200cwith missing Geraldo, Don Lemon and jock \u200citch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yes, one understands that no love is lost between the\u200b two men, but when\u200d weighing which one is in the right, consider that Rivera\u2019s entire half-century career has been premised on making <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NBmsgGTchrc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ted Baxter<\/a> look like an understated, humbler version of Edward R. Murrow.<\/p>\n<p>A self-promoting bottom-feeder and pot-stirrer, even \u2062by the standards of establishment media, Rivera has moved \u2063from sensationalist local-news muckraker\u200b to tabloid TV schlock-purveyor to \u200dtoken \u200ccontrarian leftist at Fox News without, apparently, learning either editorial scruples or emotional\u2062 modulation along the way.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re now supposed to believe \u2014\u200c as he spills his\u2064 guts\u2062 to every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-73976-ballots-released-by-maricopa-county-56-1-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"BREAKING: 73,976 Ballots Released By Maricopa County \u2014 56.1% FOR DONALD TRUMP\">news outlet<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/geraldo-rivera-goes-view-reveals-toxic-relationship-former-co-host\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">willing to give him a listen<\/a> \u2014 that it was Gutfeld and Carlson who were responsible for \u2062the problems \u2063that \u2062led to his departure, not <em>him<\/em>. \u200bAnd he has the phone \u200dcalls from unnamed Fox \u200dNews personalities to prove it!<\/p>\n<p>Even \u200dif this is true \u2014 and let\u2019s keep in mind,\u2064 this is the guy behind \u201cThe Mystery of Al Capone\u2019s Vaults,\u201d so it\u2019s not as if\u200b the man\u2019s word \u2062is gold\u200d \u2014 it doesn\u2019t say \u200das much about Rivera himself\u200c as it does about the\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/real-reason-tucker-carlson-fired-revealed-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">culture at\u200d Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Carlson was one of the last independent voices on cable TV, someone whose \u200bopinions didn\u2019t seem dictated by \u2063producers and executives.
