Joe Biden served as vice president \u2062from January\u200d 2009 to January 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese records have been redacted\u2064 for\u200b public release\u2062 pursuant to \u2063the PRA and FOIA [the Freedom of Information Act]. For example, an email bearing the subject \u2018Friday Schedule Card,\u2019 is withheld in part under a \u2018P6\u2019 and \u2018b(6)\u2019 restrictions,\u200b denoting personal information regarding the subject under the PRA and FOIA respectively,\u201d Comer said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAttached to this email, and made available on the NARA website, is a document \u2063that indicates at 9:00 a.m. on May 27, 2016, Vice President Biden took a \u200dcall with the president\u2064 of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko,\u201d the letter continued. \u201cIt is concerning to the Committee, however, that this\u200d document was sent to \u2018Robert\u2064 L. Peters\u2019 \u2014 a pseudonym the Committee has \u2063identified as \u200dthen \u2063Vice President Biden. Additionally, the Committee \u200dquestions why the then-Vice President\u2019s son, Hunter \u200dBiden \u2014 and only Hunter Biden \u2014 was \u2063copied on this email to then-Vice\u200d President Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Request for Documents and Investigation into\u200c Corruption<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Comer asked that NARA provide the requested documents by August 31. He\u200c noted that\u2063 they \u200dare\u2063 needed \u200cto help Congress work on \u201clegislative solutions\u201d for ethics laws and \u200ddisclosure rules.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Committee is concerned\u2063 that foreign nationals have\u200c sought \u200caccess and influence by engaging in lucrative business relationships with high-profile \u2063political figures\u2019 immediate family members, including members of the Biden family,\u201d \u200cComer wrote.<\/p>\n<p>A NARA \u200dspokesperson told The Daily Wire that the agency received the request and will respond in accordance with the\u2063 requirements of the PRA.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For years, Joe Biden claimed to have never spoken to\u200d Hunter about his business dealings, but as the oversight \u200cpanel uncovered more evidence, the White House has\u200b taken to saying the elder Biden\u200d never\u200d did business\u2062 with his son. Last week, the \u200dpresident <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-snarls-at-lousy-question-about-calls-with-sons-business-partners\">snapped at<\/a> a reporter who asked \u200babout the calls with\u2063 Hunter\u2019s business associates, saying, \u201cI \u200dnever talked business with\u2064 anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a\u200c press release,\u200d Comer pointed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-repeatedly-denied-discussing-business-deals-hunter-evidence-suggests-otherwise\">comments Joe Biden made<\/a> \u2064 as a presidential candidate in August 2019 in\u2063 which he said, \u200c\u201cI\u200d have never discussed with\u2064 my\u2063 son or my brother or anyone else anything having to do with their business, period,\u201d and \u201cThere will be an absolute wall between the personal and private and the government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the release noted that Devon Archer, a former business partner of Hunter\u2019s, recently <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Devon-Archer-Transcript.pdf\">testified<\/a> to the House Oversight Committee that then-Vice President\u200c Biden addressed \u200ctheir \u200dforeign\u2063 associates \u200dover <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/intimidated-biden-brand-helped-ukrainian-company-survive-hunters-ex-associate-says\/\" title=\"Biden's 'intimidating' reputation aided Ukrainian firm's survival, claims Hunter's former associate.\">speaker phone roughly 20 times<\/a>, \u2062dined with \u201ccorrupt \u200dforeign oligarchs\u201d in Washington, D.C., and \u200dmet with his son\u2019s Chinese business associate for coffee in Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>Though Archer\u200b indicated that the conversations \u200dstuck to casual topics such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1686071608417402895\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weather<\/a> or fishing, \u2064the Biden family <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hunter-bidens-former-business-partner-joe-biden-was-the-brand-to-send-signals-to-burisma\">\u201cbrand\u201d<\/a> \u2063 went a long way in their ventures and the calls were \u201csignal enough to \u200dbe \u2062powerful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoe Biden has stated there was \u2018an absolute wall\u2019\u2063 between his family\u2019s foreign business schemes and his duties as Vice President, but evidence \u2064reveals that access was\u200c wide open for his family\u2019s influence peddling,\u201d\u200d Comer said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe already have\u200c evidence of then-Vice President Biden\u200b speaking, dining, and having coffee\u200c with his son\u2019s foreign business associates,\u201d he added. \u201cWe also know that\u2063 Hunter Biden and his associates were informed\u2063 of then-Vice President Biden\u2019s official government duties in \u2063countries where they had a financial interest. The National\u200d Archives must provide these unredacted records to further our investigation\u200c into the \u200dBiden family\u2019s corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats on the oversight panel have \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OversightDems\/status\/1691921908470514014\">criticized<\/a> the congressional investigation into the Bidens, insisting that their GOP colleagues\u2062 have found no evidence \u200cof wrongdoing by President Biden while claiming that the Republicans\u200d are trying to \u201cdistract\u201d from the criminal cases against former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter is also facing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/prosecutors-deny-hunter-biden-locked-deal-to-resolve-felony-gun-charge\">a criminal inquiry<\/a> that so far has led to tax evasion and gun charges. After \u200da plea \u200bdeal fell apart, Attorney General\u2062 Merrick Garland appointed Delaware\u2019s U.S. Attorney David Weiss as special \u2064counsel, giving \u200dthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-bidens-lawyers-claim-deal-to-resolve-felony-gun-charge-was-binding\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden's attorneys assert that the agreement to settle the felony gun charge was legally binding.\">prosecutor broader authority<\/a>\u2063 to bring \u200bcharges in districts\u2063 outside his own.<\/p>\n<p>Staff memos \u200dshow the GOP-led oversight panel has identified \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/house-oversight-releases-memo-alleging-hunter-biden-received-millions-from-oligarchs\">more than $20 million<\/a> in payments to members of the Biden family from sources in \u200bforeign countries \u2014 including China, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, and Kazakhstan \u2014 through a web of more than 20 companies,\u2064 raising concerns about the president being susceptible to influence peddling. Republicans have also raised concerns about an FBI document showing an \u2062informant\u2019s claims that the president might have been involved in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fbi-biden-bribery-file-released-burisma-head-says-he-was-coerced-into-paying-bidens-10-million\">bribery\u2063 scheme<\/a> \u2064linked to Ukraine \u200cand Burisma.<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said\u2063 last month that\u200c the probe into the Biden family\u2019s \u2063finances is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/speaker-mccarthy-indicates-republicans-are-moving-toward-impeachment-inquiry-of-biden\">\u201crising to\u200d the\u200c level\u201d<\/a> \u200c of\u200c an impeachment inquiry.
