The\u2064 lawsuit aims to stop the enforcement of a controversial law that allows \u200bthe state to \u2064hide \u2062child sex-change surgeries from parents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The law in question,\u200c Senate Bill 5599, \u200bwas recently\u200d signed \u200dinto law \u200dby Inslee\u2064 and has sparked significant \u2064controversy. It was pushed by leftist lawmakers as\u200b a means of protecting trans-identifying youth. Instead, they are obligated to\u2063 notify the Washington Department of Children, Youth,\u200b and Families. This has raised concerns about the potential \u2063for parental \u200brights to be undermined.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The legislation also includes abortion as a &#8220;compelling \u2064reason&#8221; for licensed shelters and host homes not to inform parents if a\u2063 runaway child is seeking such a procedure. The bill\u200d easily passed through\u2063 the Democrat-controlled legislature, with the Senate voting 29-20 and the House voting 57-39 in favor. It was sponsored by \u200cstate\u200c Sen. Marko Liias, a Democrat and co-chair of the LGBTQ caucus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When signing\u2062 the \u2064bill, Governor Inslee described it as\u2063 a\u200b &#8220;compassionate, developmentally appropriate,\u200d and reasoned\u200b approach to support these youth as they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/unbelievable-ap-reports-trans-minors-protected-from-parents-under-washington-law\/\" title=\"AP reports that Washington law protects trans minors from their parents.\">access gender-affirming treatment<\/a> and reproductive health \u200dcare \u200cservices.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit also targets Washington Attorney General Robert \u2064Furguson and the secretary of the Washington Department of \u200dChildren, Youth, and Families, Ross\u200d Hunter.
