Wikipedia, however, does nothing\u2063 to stop outside influences from lacing its articles with propaganda. Instead, it has an <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#Paid_editing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">effectively unenforceable policy<\/a> that paid editing must be disclosed by the person making the edits.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-623641056\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8da668fc595e61975aeb20f841f99724 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8da668fc595e61975aeb20f841f99724\"><\/div>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/15\/wikipedias-quiet-big-tech-funded-grip-on-internet-knowledge-gives-it-too-much-power\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously reported<\/a> by The Federalist, \u200bWikipedia partners with Big Tech companies \u2062like Google to maintain \u2063a quiet monopoly on internet knowledge. This power alliance has become increasingly worrisome in recent years since, as Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/wikipedia-bias-socialism-pages-whitewashed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recounted \u200cin an interview in 2021<\/a>, \u201cThe days of \u200bWikipedia\u2019s \u2064robust commitment to neutrality are long gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Any user who\u2064 wants to manipulate a Wikipedia page to \u200cfit his agenda can do that as long as it slips through the company\u2019s host of left-leaning administrators. He included a link to Hunter\u2019s new and improved Wikipedia page.<\/p>\n<p>Wikipedia discourages <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cpuffery\u201d<\/a> and meddling from \u200bpublic\u200c relations people like the mysterious \u201cAmeliaChevalier\u201d and\u2062 \u201csock puppet\u201d account \u201cEarflaps,\u201d which freed Hunter\u2019s page of facts\u200d that he believed would blemish his reputation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ab98872e8a29dcb59a50386131770bcc fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ab98872e8a29dcb59a50386131770bcc\"><\/div>\n<p>Yet, there are dozens \u2064of companies that not only make stealthy makeover \u200bedits but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/extensive-edits-to-hunter-bidens-wikipedia-page-prove-sites-extreme-bias\/\" title=\"Wikipedia's Bias Evident in Extensive Hunter Biden Page Edits\">openly advertise replacing inconvenient facts<\/a> on Wikipedia pages\u2063 with self-adulating material.<\/p>\n<p>One quick \u2063search of \u201cWikipedia\u201d \u201cpay to edit\u201d \u200dyields hundreds of results \u200b(including sponsored content) from companies that shamelessly promote\u200c their services as a means to, as website wikimoderator.com <a href=\"https:\/\/wikimoderator.com\/wikipedia-page-editing-services?campaign=20279063412&#038;ad=151853046475&#038;sq=wikipedia%20editing%20services&#038;m=e&#038;d=c&#038;gclid=CjwKCAjw5_GmBhBIEiwA5QSMxNT6quDGy8LlKU9ZI70fFcVgKNHpgPqr80FdSObBCcGDDdhDAXZAdRoCyfcQAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">put it<\/a>,\u2063 \u201chelp you fix all the errors &#038; misinformation from your Wikipedia page.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMisinformation,\u201d in this case, clearly means any content that is deemed unfavorable by the person the page is about.<\/p>\n<p>PR firms are\u2062 useful for covering problematic people \u2064like Hunter. Where they fail, however, Wikipedia\u2019s increasingly biased keyboard warriors step in.<\/p>\n<p>When news of scandalous findings on Hunter\u2019s abandoned laptop broke weeks before the 2020 presidential election, Wikipedia editors <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/gyDAB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apparently<\/a> left mention of it \u2064off Hunter\u2019s page\u2064 until well after the election.<\/p>\n<p>Until spring 2022, \u200cafter corporate \u2062media outlets that helped suppress \u200bthe Hunter Biden laptop story <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/17\/after-throttling-the-hunter-biden-laptop-story-with-hacked-and-russian-disinformation-lies-propaganda-press-quietly-admit-it-was-completely-legit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quietly admitted it was completely legit<\/a>,\u2064 users who searched the Wikipedia page for information about the laptop were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kiRgJYMw6YA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">redirected<\/a> to a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Biden%E2%80%93Ukraine_conspiracy_theory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cBiden\u2013Ukraine conspiracy theory\u201d<\/a> article, which mounting evidence suggests <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/21\/10-media-hack-factories-that-pooh-poohed-the-biden-burisma-scandal-as-a-conspiracy-theory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">is anything \u200bbut\u200b a conspiracy theory.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This was not an isolated instance of ideological bias. It was yet another example of the propaganda that plagues many Wikipedia articles.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Spin Runs Deep<\/h2>\n<p>Nearly 10 years ago, one of Wikipedia\u2019s many crowdsourced editors \u200ctried to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2014\/09\/26\/wikipedia-is-now-trying-to-eliminate-the-federalists-online-entry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">delete<\/a> \u2062The Federalist\u2019s Wikipedia entry because,\u200b according\u2062 to the user, it \u201cdoes not pass the threshold for notability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To this\u200c day, The Federalist\u2019s Wikipedia page \u2063is <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Talk:The_Federalist_(website)\/Archive_4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">littered<\/a> with \u200ckeyboard quarrels between anonymous \u200deditors about whether our publication is considered a \u201creliable source,\u201d\u200c if our staff is racially diverse enough, and why our <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/24\/while-everyone-else-panicked-two-years-ago-the-federalist-was-right-about-lockdowns-doing-more-harm-than-good\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accurate Covid coverage<\/a> should be deemed \u201cmisinformation\u201d or \u2062\u201calleged misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re passionate \u2064about facts. We care about objective facts, The Federalist appears to care \u2062more about \u200cideological\u2062 Truth\u2122,\u201d one editor wrote on The Federalist\u2019s \u200cWikipedia talk page during a debate about how to present our Covid reporting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re absolutely not passionate about facts,\u201d another editor retorted. \u201cWe\u2019re passionate \u2063about the \u2063opinion of a few journalists \u200bfrom a few\u2064 select publications. That\u2019s very far from truth, and not a very good way to \u2064build an encyclopedia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These arguments have earned our \u2064publication <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Talk:The_Federalist_(website)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">several<\/a> \u201ccontentious topic restrictions,\u201d which let administrators control how editors and pages can be edited.<\/p>\n<p>Despite numerous documented accounts of\u200c anonymous Wikipedia editors \u2064submitting requests to fix The Federalist page to \u200baccurately represent our reporting, the page\u2019s\u200b second paragraph \u2062claims our publication \u201cpublished many pieces that contained false information, \u2062pseudoscience, and \u200dcontradictions or misrepresentations of the recommendations of public health authorities\u201d and \u2063\u201cmade false claims that there had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-thanks-wapo-for-correcting-latest-media-travesty-blasts-legacy-media-for-acting-like-political-entities\/\" title=\"Trump Thanks WaPo For Correcting \u2018Latest Media Travesty,\u2019 Blasts Legacy Media For Acting Like \u2018Political Entities\u2019\">large-scale election fraud<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Federalist certainly isn\u2019t the only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/washington-post-uncritically-publishes-far-left-orgs-attack-on-breitbart-conservative-media-facebook\/\" title=\"Washington Post Uncritically Publishes Far-Left Org's Attack on Breitbart, Conservative Media, Facebook\">alternative media outlet<\/a> that has been \u200csubjected to Wikipedia\u2019s bias and it won\u2019t be the last.<\/p>\n<p>Wikipedia claims to offer help to curious internet \u200cusers seeking answers. In reality, \u200dit is a cesspool of partisans that enables retroactive scouring by elevating corrupt corporate media outlets as \u201creliable sources\u201d and downplaying conservative outlets\u200d like The\u2062 Federalist.<\/p>\n<p>Sanger was right \u2064that Wikipedia is \u201cbroken beyond repair\u201d \u2014 paid\u2064 editors or not.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f8f94dca7424d2c664ac985bc0e03f25 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f8f94dca7424d2c664ac985bc0e03f25\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>up in a search engine, raises concerns about transparency and manipulation of information.
