Fishman pointed out that\u200c Oher \u200dmentioned the Tuohys&#8217; role as his conservators three times in his first book, &#8220;I \u2062Beat The Odds: From Homeless, To The Blind Side,&#8221; published in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The attorneys also revealed\u2062 that \u2062Oher and the Tuohys have been estranged for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-border-city-newspaper-wrongly-ties-attorney-to-murder\/\" title=\"Texas Border City Newspaper Wrongly Ties Attorney to Murder\">approximately ten years<\/a>. In \u200ca statement released\u200b by their lawyers, \u200dthey\u200d revealed \u200dthat Oher had previously threatened to plant a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-pm-boris-encouraged-tory-activists-to-exchange-bodily-fluids-just-two-months-ago\/\" title=\"Watch: PM Boris Encouraged Tory Activists to 'Exchange Bodily Fluids' Just Two Months Ago\">negative news story<\/a> about\u2062 them unless \u200bthey\u200c paid him $15 million.<\/p>\n<p>Oher&#8217;s lawyers have not yet responded to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The conservatorship paperwork was filed several months\u200c after Oher turned\u200d 18 in May 2004. Oher accuses the Tuohys of failing to\u2062 take \u200clegal action to obtain custody \u200bfrom the Tennessee Department of Human Services before he\u2063 reached adulthood, despite being referred to as &#8220;Mom&#8221; and &#8220;Dad&#8221; by the couple.<\/p>\n<p>Oher alleges that the\u2063 Tuohys had \u200chim sign paperwork immediately after he\u2063 moved in, as part\u200d of the adoption \u2062process. He claims that\u2062 he was \u200cfalsely advised\u200c that it \u200bwould be called \u200ca conservatorship due to his age, but that adoption was the true\u200b intention.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width:640px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Sean and Leigh \u2062Anne \u200dTuohy stand on a street in New Orleans on\u200b Feb. 1, 2013. \u200b(Gerald Herbert\/AP Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Tuohys&#8217; attorneys explain that the couple did not simply adopt Oher because the conservatorship\u2062 was the quickest way to address concerns \u2063raised by the NCAA regarding the Tuohys potentially influencing a talented\u200c athlete to attend their alma mater, \u2062the University of\u200c Mississippi, where Oher eventually enrolled.<\/p>\n<p>Oher, who has never been\u2063 a\u200b fan of the\u2062 movie about his life, is requesting that\u200c the Tuohys be sanctioned and required \u2063by the probate court to pay damages.\u200d He also seeks \u200bto receive the compensation he believes he is\u2062 owed, along \u200bwith \u2064interest.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200b Tuohys&#8217;\u200c lawyers state that the couple received a small advance from the production\u2063 company of\u2064 &#8220;The Blind\u200b Side,&#8221; \u200cbased on \u2064a book \u200dwritten by \u2062Sean Tuohy&#8217;s friend Michael Lewis.\u200c This advance included a percentage of net profits, \u2063which was divided equally among a group that included Oher. The lawyers estimate\u200c that each party \u2063received $100,000, \u2064with \u2062the couple paying taxes on Oher&#8217;s portion \u2064on\u200d his\u200d behalf.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They \u2064don&#8217;t \u200bneed his \u200dmoney,&#8221; Farese \u2064emphasized. &#8220;They&#8217;ve\u200c never needed his money.
