This legislation includes measures to safeguard parental authority in child education, protect\u200b biological women&#8217;s sports, and ban gender reassignment treatments on children performed by medical professionals.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper vetoed three bills last month, claiming that they were part of\u200c a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-texas-abortion-ban-hurts-big-oils-effort-to-transform-its-workforce\/\" title=\"How Texas\u2019 abortion ban hurts Big Oil\u2019s effort to transform its workforce\">political culture war<\/a> that would harm\u200b children and tarnish the state&#8217;s reputation. Cooper's veto on culture war legislation.\">surgical gender reassignment surgeries<\/a> to individuals under 18, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/transgender-health-care-veto-override-north-carolina-536351cc360a92cdd21f298f6212e6d2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Sen.\u2064 Joyce Krawiec, the primary sponsor of \u200dthe bill, emphasized the\u200b state&#8217;s interest in &#8220;protecting children from long-term harm&#8221; caused by irreversible procedures before they reach adulthood.<\/p>\n<p>While the bill takes immediate effect, minors who began gender-affirming care \u200dbefore August 1 can continue with \u2063parental \u2063consent or if a doctor deems it medically necessary.<\/p>\n<p>The medicalization of transgender children \u2062has seen a surge in popularity\u2064 in recent years, prompting \u200bmany states to respond with restrictions. According to data from the CDC&#8217;s Behavior Risk \u200cFactor Surveillance System and Youth Risk Behavior Survey, approximately 300,000 American \u2062teens between the ages of 13 and 17 identified as\u200d transgender last year, indicating \u200ba <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-presses-congress-for-33-billion-more-in-ukraine-aid\/\" title=\"Biden Presses Congress For  Billion More In Ukraine Aid\">significant increase compared<\/a> to\u2062 previous years.<\/p>\n<p>Although 31 states have proposed \u200drestrictions\u200d on child sex\u200d change treatments and \u200cprocedures, only some have successfully implemented them.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\">CLICK HERE TO GET\u2062 THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&#8217;s vote was part of a larger package of legislation that Governor Cooper attempted to veto. This package also includes measures\u2062 to limit \u200dgender and sex discussions in schools and prohibit biological males from participating in female sports\u200b at middle school, high school,\u2062 and collegiate levels.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Sen.
