This exchange\u2063 comes as the city&#8217;s Democratic mayor, Eric Adams, voices his frustration over \u200bthe lack of assistance in caring for the thousands\u2064 of immigrants arriving in\u2064 the city.<\/p>\n<p>Adams has primarily directed his\u2064 criticism towards President Joe Biden and the White \u2062House, but \u2062he has also sought aid from\u2063 Hochul and the state\u200c government to address the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pelosi-downplays-border-crisis-says-biden-has-it-under-control\/\" title=\"Pelosi downplays border crisis, says Biden has it under control\">growing humanitarian crisis<\/a> in New York City.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;In\u200b some instances, the City has failed to accept the \u2064State\u2019s offers of assistance or recommendations for State facilities. The \u2062City has not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hochul-adams-administrations-wrestle-over-blame-for-growing-migrant-crisis-in-new-york\/\" title=\"Hochul and Adams Clash Over New York's Migrant Crisis\">made timely requests<\/a> for \u200dregulatory changes, has not \u200calways promptly shared necessary information with the State, has not implemented programs in a timely manner, and has not consulted the State before taking certain actions,&#8221; the letter states.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While Governor Hochul and [Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance acting commissioner Barbara Guinn] appreciate Mayor Adams\u2019s public acknowledgement of the State\u2019s \u2063significant role in the crisis response, the City can and should do more to act in a proactive and collaborative manner with the State,&#8221; it chided.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Fabien Levy, the deputy\u2064 mayor for communications for the city, acknowledges the \u200cstate&#8217;s help but believes more \u2063needs to be done due to the magnitude\u200c of the problem. He calls on state lawmakers to pass a statewide order that prevents localities from passing ordinances that hinder the relocation of asylum seekers within New York State.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the tension, Adams\u200b downplays the conflict between his administration and \u2062Hochul, emphasizing their mutual respect and \u200dwillingness to\u2064 learn from each other.<\/p>\n<p>The immigration situation in New York has been further complicated by Republican \u200cGovernor Greg\u2063 Abbott of Texas.
