Brown\/AFP via Getty \u2063Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With over 35 million registered vehicles in California, the issue of data collection is a concern\u200b for all residents who drive, ride in, or walk near a car equipped with these technologies, according to the agency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In May, a U.S.-based automotive firm called <a href=\"https:\/\/vehicleprivacyreport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Privacy4Cars<\/a> launched a new online tool called the Vehicle Privacy Report. This tool allows users to input their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exec-of-defunct-green-energy-company-gets-6-years-in-prison-for-role-in-billion-dollar-ponzi-scheme\/\" title=\"Exec Of Defunct Green Energy Company Gets 6 Years In Prison For Role In Billion Dollar Ponzi Scheme\">vehicle identification number<\/a> and find out how much data\u2063 their car is collecting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Vehicle Privacy Report informs vehicle \u2064owners \u2064about the information being sold and to whom, including location status and biometrics such as\u200c voice, facial recognition, and fingerprints. It \u2064also reveals if that information is being sent to the government, service providers, insurance companies, or data brokers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Andrea Amico, \u200cthe founder \u200cof Privacy4Cars, most modern cars are like &#8220;smartphones on wheels&#8221; as they can collect and wirelessly transmit data back to manufacturers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The California Privacy Protection Agency was created in\u2064 November 2020 after voters approved Proposition \u206324, the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-privacy-agency-to-investigate-how-automakers-record-and-use-driver-data\/\" title=\"California Privacy Agency to Probe Automakers' Driver Data Recording and Usage\">act expanded privacy protection<\/a> under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018.
