George\u2064 Santos Indicted for Impersonation<\/h2>\n<p>A former campaign fundraiser for U.S. Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/george-santos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Santos<\/a> (R-NY) has\u200b been indicted \u200cin \u2064a federal case for \u200callegedly impersonating\u2062 a high-ranking aide in the House of Representatives to \u2062solicit potential contributions\u2062 from over a dozen donors.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cMr. Miele is\u200d not guilty of these charges,\u201d Kevin Marino, his attorney, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/08\/16\/feds-indict-paid-fundraiser-for-rep-george-santos-for-allegedly-impersonating-speaker-mccarthy-aide.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC<\/a>, adding that his\u2063 client \u201clooks forward to\u200b completing vindication at trial \u2062as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Samuel\u200d Miele,\u2063 the former fundraiser, has been charged with four counts of wire fraud and aggravated \u200bidentity theft, according to the unsealed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23911073-usa-v-miele\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indictment<\/a> in the\u2063 U.S. District\u200d Court\u2062 for \u2062the Eastern District of New York.<\/p>\n<p>Miele, 27, allegedly used the name and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/indigozebra-hacking-group-suspected-of-targeting-afghan-government\/\" title=\"IndigoZebra hacking group suspected of targeting Afghan government\">fake email address<\/a> of a high-ranking aide to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to secure campaign \u2062funding for Santos while\u2063 earning a\u2063 15% commission on each donation. Multiple news outlets \u200chave identified the\u200b impersonated aide as Dan Meyer, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/speaker-kevin-mccarthy-announces-staff-promotions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">retired<\/a> in \u2063June after \u2062serving as \u200cMcCarthy\u2019s chief of staff for the \u2063past four years.<\/p>\n<p>Federal prosecutors claim that Miele sent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fundraiser-for-rep-george-santos-indicted-for-allegedly-impersonating-congressional-aide\/\" title=\"Fundraiser for Rep. George Santos Accused of Posing as Congressional Aide\">fraudulent fundraising solicitations<\/a> through emails and phone calls to more than a dozen prospective donors between August and December 2021.<\/p>\n<p>On September\u200b 26, 2022, Miele allegedly admitted to &#8220;faking my identity to\u200b a big donor&#8221; in a letter to Santos, stating that he was &#8220;high risk, high reward in everything I \u200cdo.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for McCarthy <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/george-santos-fundraiser-indicted-congress-new-york-565b0a82e6ca2ceb6c69d1978254ac5b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> \u200c The Associated Press that they were first made aware \u200bof the \u2064impersonation \u2062in August 2021.<\/p>\n<h3>Implications for\u200b Rep. George \u2062Santos<\/h3>\n<p>Prosecutors have notified two judges in\u200b the Eastern District Court that Miele&#8217;s criminal\u200c case &#8220;may be presumptively related&#8221; to campaign-related charges filed \u2064against Santos earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Santos,\u2062 who was charged \u2062with over 13 counts \u2063in March 2023, including wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds,\u200c and\u200b making \u200dfalse\u200b statements\u2062 to the House of Representatives, \u200bhas pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Santos has been accused of \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-mccarthy-rep-gaetz-is-innocent-until-proven-guilty\/\" title=\"Rep.
