(Photo by Drew \u200dAngerer\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>OAN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/james-meyers\">James Meyers<\/a><\/h2>\n<h3>4:40 PM\u200c \u2013 Wednesday, August 16, 2023<\/h3>\n<p>A former fundraiser for Republican Representative George Santos was\u200c indicted\u2063 on Wednesday\u200c on federal charges.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>27-year-old Sam Miele was charged with four counts of wire \u200bfraud\u2063 and \u200done count of aggravated identity theft. <\/p>\n<p>Miele is\u2062 accused of taking part in an alleged scheme that defrauded donors and acted as Republican House Speaker \u200cKevin McCarthy\u2019s top aide to solicit donations for Santos. <\/p>\n<p>According to the indictment in the U.S. District Court for \u200dthe Eastern District of New \u200cYork, he \u2064also allegedly sent a letter\u200b to Santos on September 26<sup>th<\/sup>, 2022, \u201cin which he admitted to faking my identity to \u200ba big donor, \u2064but stated that he was high risk, high reward in everything I \u200ddo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally,\u2062 Miele\u200c was accused \u200bof impersonating McCarthy\u2019s aide, \u2062Dan Meyer, to\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ron-desantis-slams-alvin-bragg-for-pursuing-a-political-agenda-in-possible-trump-indictment\/\" title=\"Ron DeSantis slams Alvin Bragg for 'pursuing a political agenda' in possible Trump indictment\">receive campaign donations<\/a> from over a dozen\u2063 donors and\u2064 taking in 15% of \u200bcommissions on each donation.<\/p>\n<p>The arrest comes \u2064after Santos (R-N.Y.) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/george-santos-in-federal-custody\/\">was charged<\/a> with theft, fraud, money laundering, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sidney-powell-is-an-american-legal-giant\/\" title=\"Sidney Powell Is an American Legal Giant\">making false statements<\/a>.\u2063 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/campaign-fundraiser-for-rep-george-santos-is-indicted-for-wire-fraud-identity-theft\/\" title=\"Rep. George Santos\">past work experience<\/a>, and education.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u200b the indictment, Miele intentionally \u200cimpersonated Meyer \u201cfor the purpose\u2063 of \u200bsoliciting contributions to\u2064 the campaign and enriching himself through commissions earned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the\u2064 alleged scam, Miele purportedly made an email account using the first letter and last name of McCarthy\u2019s aide\u2063 and then signed the aide\u2019s full name and job \u2062title. <\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old pleaded not guilty to the indictment and has been released on $150,000 bail.<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
