George \u200cSantos has been indicted on federal charges for an intriguing scheme. Sam Miele, 27, \u2063is accused of impersonating \u2063a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fundraiser-for-rep-george-santos-indicted-for-allegedly-impersonating-congressional-aide\/\" title=\"Fundraiser for Rep. Prosecutors allege that he\u2064 used a fake name and email address to\u2064 pose as a\u200c &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-instructs-kabul-embassy-to-destroy-american-flags-as-it-braces-for-global-embarrassment\/\" title=\"Biden Admin Instructs Kabul Embassy To Destroy American Flags As It Braces For Global Embarrassment\">high-ranking aide<\/a> to a member of the House with leadership responsibilities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The indictment did not name \u2062the person who was \u200dimpersonated, but the\u200d details of the charges match with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-santos-staffer-brought-up-on-federal-charges-allegedly-admitted-scheme-to-rep\/\" title=\"Former Santos employee faces federal charges, reportedly confesses to fraudulent scheme.\">multiple news reports identifying<\/a> the aide as Dan \u200bMeyer, now retired as the longtime chief of staff to House Speaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kevin-mccarthy-puts-biden-crosshairs-doubles-impeachment-inquiry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kevin McCarthy<\/a>, who \u2063at the time was minority leader.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While Santos himself was not\u2062 charged in the indictment, federal\u2063 prosecutors noted that \u2063the\u2064 case overlaps with the congressman&#8217;s alleged crimes of wire fraud and money laundering.<\/p>\n<p>Miele pleaded not \u2062guilty to the charges and was \u2064released on a $150,000 bond. His attorney,\u200d Kevin Marino, did not immediately return a phone message. Meyer,\u2062 the impersonated aide, did not respond to a request for comment, and Santos&#8217; office also did not provide a comment.<\/p>\n<p>According to federal prosecutors, Miele sent fraudulent fundraising\u2064 solicitations to more than \u200ba\u2062 dozen prospective donors \u2063between August and December of 2021. He even signed some of the emails with the aide&#8217;s full name and title.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter sent to \u2063Santos last September,\u200c Miele admitted to &#8220;faking my identity to a big donor,&#8221; describing himself as &#8220;high \u2062risk, high reward in everything I do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Miele \u200bearned a commission of 15 percent for each contribution he raised, prosecutors\u2063 revealed.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment comes three months after Santos&#8217; arrest on charges of wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sidney-powell-is-an-american-legal-giant\/\" title=\"Sidney Powell Is an American Legal Giant\">making false statements<\/a> to Congress. Santos has pleaded not guilty and\u200d has no plans to resign from Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The case against Santos involves separate allegations \u2064of embezzlement, lying to Congress about his finances, and\u200b fraudulently obtaining unemployment checks.
