While this is a \u2064valid concern,\u200b there is\u2063 a larger issue looming \u200ctoday: a lack of family formation.\u2062 Fewer Americans are choosing to\u200c get married and have\u2064 children.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u200c professor Jean \u200cM.\u2062 Twenge&#8217;s book <i>Generations: The Real Differences Between Gen Z,\u200b Millennials,\u200b Gen X, Boomers, and\u2062 Silents\u2014and What They Mean for America\u2019s Future<\/i>, birth\u200d rates began\u200b to decline\u200c with the\u2064 shift\u2064 from Gen X to Millennials. Fertility rates were on the rise before the Great \u2064Recession of 2008, but they\u2064 sharply dropped afterward and \u2064have yet to recover,\u200d as noted in a \u200drecent Pew report.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent\u200b documentary called &#8220;Birthgap,&#8221; data \u200cscientist Stephen\u2062 J. Shaw highlights \u200cthat the primary reason for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/aclu-presses-supreme-court-to-end-men-only-draft\/\" title=\"ACLU Presses Supreme Court to End Men-Only Draft\">falling birth rates<\/a> \u2062is\u2062 not that\u200b mothers are\u200c having\u200d fewer children,\u200d but \u200crather the significant increase\u2064 in the \u200dnumber of women who\u2063 remain \u2063childless. About 80% of \u2062these women\u2062 wanted children but either never\u200c found a partner or did not\u200d do\u200c so in\u200c time. They were caught off guard,\u2064 poorly educated\u2064 about female fertility, and believed they \u2064had more time.<\/p>\n<p>Part of this outlook \u200dtowards biology may stem from the perception that \u2063modern\u2062 society has conquered \u2064nature through\u2063 technology. In a world where customization is the norm, individuals expect their\u2064 every desire to \u200bbe \u2063met promptly. However, it is \u200cchallenging \u2062to accept\u200d that even science has limitations, as exemplified by some reactions during\u2062 the pandemic.<\/p>\n<h3>The Changing Attitudes Towards Marriage<\/h3>\n<p>Young singles today often prioritize other \u2064aspects of life before \u200cdating. There is a prevailing belief \u2063that both partners \u200bshould\u200c establish themselves \u200band gain life experiences\u200b before settling down. Marriage is seen \u200bas\u2064 a &#8220;capstone&#8221; \u2063rather than a \u2062&#8221;cornerstone&#8221; of\u2064 life, as sociologist Andrew J. Cherlin explains.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, many young \u200cpeople\u200b come from\u2063 broken homes, \u200cand \u200ddivorced \u2063parents may not\u200d prioritize \u200bmarriage or\u2064 view it as the cornerstone\u200b of life. Only 62% of Millennials were raised by both parents, compared to higher percentages in previous\u2064 generations. The broken families of one generation can lead to a lack of\u2064 family formation in \u200bthe \u2062next.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>&#8220;The central finding of this study is\u2062 that parental divorce impacts \u200cdetrimentally the\u2063 capacity to love and \u200dbe loved within a lasting, committed relationship\u2026In addition to overcoming their \u2063fear of failure, they\u2064 have a great \u200ddeal to\u2062 learn about \u2064the\u2062 give and take of living with another person, about how\u200d to deal with differences, and about how to \u2062resolve conflicts.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Children of divorce \u200bmay develop a pessimistic view \u2064of marriage and dismiss its \u2064importance for happiness. \u200cThey lack a\u200b healthy \u200brelationship model and \u2062struggle\u200c to understand \u2064what to look for in a spouse and how to communicate effectively.<\/p>\n<h3>The &#8220;Boy Crisis&#8221; and its Impact<\/h3>\n<p>Individuals are delaying marriage and children not\u2064 only due\u200d to shifting attitudes but also because\u2062 many\u200b struggle to find\u2063 suitable partners. This is partly attributed\u200c to the\u2063 effects of the &#8220;boy crisis,&#8221; which is\u2062 not limited\u2062 to the\u2063 United States but is observed in many developed countries.<\/p>\n<p>More\u2062 women are \u2063pursuing higher education than\u2064 men, and they desire partners who\u200b are equally or more \u2063educated than them. For\u200d example, women are \u206391%\u200b more likely\u200b to show interest\u200c in men with a master&#8217;s degree on\u200c dating apps\u200c like Tinder. Additionally, Millennials are making\u2064 more money than previous generations, but this \u200cincrease \u2062is primarily driven by women&#8217;s incomes.<\/p>\n<p>The boy crisis, as \u2062highlighted\u2064 in books like\u200c &#8220;The War Against Boys: How Misguided Policies Are Harming\u2063 Our Young \u2064Men&#8221; and &#8220;The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys Are Struggling and What We\u2064 Can\u200b Do About It,&#8221; \u200dcan be traced back\u200c to the absence of fathers. With 40%\u200c of children \u200cnow born out of wedlock, \u200bboys \u2064are \u2063lagging academically, experiencing\u200b decreased \u2064lifespans \u200band IQs, and\u200d facing higher rates of substance abuse\u2062 and suicide.<\/p>\n<p>This absence of fathers and the lack of family formation create a vicious cycle.\u2062 The impact \u200dof fatherlessness is more severe for \u2063boys, affecting their economic future, emotional intelligence,\u200b and marital potential. Women desire mature partners and tend to marry those who are equal or above them in education and socioeconomic \u200dstatus. When men struggle, women are left \u200dwithout \u2064suitable life partners.<\/p>\n<p>Under\u2064 these\u200b circumstances,\u2064 a hook-up culture becomes prevalent, facilitated by advancements like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-exactly-happens-in-chinese-concentration-camps\/\" title=\"What Exactly Happens In Chinese Concentration Camps?\">birth control pill<\/a> and online dating.
