said attorney George Varghese of\u2064 WilmerHale, representing \u200dthe company.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Judge Howell fined Twitter\u2064 $350,000 for failing to \u200dcomply\u2064 with Smith&#8217;s search warrant by the court&#8217;s deadline, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/08\/15\/special-counsel-obtained-trump-twitter-howell-00111410\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although Twitter eventually complied with the\u2064 warrant, it did so three days after the deadline, according to the \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/musk-twitter-fined-350k-special-council-trump-case-filed-secret-search-warrant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Caller\u2064 News Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The warrant sought access to \u2064Trump&#8217;s direct messages, a \u2062list of devices used to log into his \u200daccount, and location information, \u2063among other \u200bpieces of\u2063 information.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter&#8217;s\u2064 attorneys argued that some \u2062of this information\u200c might be covered under executive privilege, but the \u2064judge found this argument ridiculous, as it \u200dwould imply that Trump conducted important government business through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/charles-barkley-goes-on-profane-bud-light-rant-has-nasty-message-for-anyone-boycotting-brand\/\" title=\"Charles Barkley passionately defends Bud Light, delivering a strong message to boycott critics.\">social media \u200cplatform<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors also\u200c demanded that Twitter not inform\u2062 Trump about the search warrants, citing the importance of maintaining \u200cthe\u200b integrity\u200b of\u200c the investigation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;There \u2063actually\u200b are concrete cognizable reasons to \u200bthink that if the\u2062 former president had notice of these covert investigative\u200b steps,\u200b there would be actual harm and concern for the investigation, for the witnesses going forward,&#8221; said Gregory\u200b Bernstein, a member of \u200bSmith&#8217;s \u200dteam.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Initially,\u200b the district court issued a nondisclosure order preventing Twitter from notifying anyone about the \u2063warrant.
