In this day\u200d and age, marriage has \u2062become quite fickle. Maybe this is due\u200b to \u2064social media or just the sheer fact \u2062of\u2062 how flippantly people change their minds, but when \u2063it comes\u2062 to marriage, they\u2019re changing them left\u2064 and right. Marriage used to represent a union that meant forever, whereas\u200d now marriage has become a trend. I think for some people, it only means\u2063 pretty pictures in a\u200d white dress on Instagram and Facebook with\u2062 subsequent posts of \u200ba \u201cmy forever date\u201d caption. Then, when they have to actually look at the foundation of their relationship, they decide \u200bthey just don\u2019t want to deal with it.<\/p>\n<h3>A Divorce\u2062 Triggered by a Single Incident<\/h3>\n<p>This was unfortunately confirmed when I came across <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mumsnet.com\/talk\/am_i_being_unreasonable\/4716953-what-was-your-this-is-over-moment-in-your-marriage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a \u2064post<\/a> not too long ago on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mumsnet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mumsnet<\/a>, \u200bwhich is much like a British Reddit\u200b for moms. (It\u2019s actually a really\u2063 great resource. I\u2019m\u200c pregnant right now, and I\u2019ll ask specific questions about\u2062 pregnancy \u2064and parenting on\u2062 there.) In \u2062this particular post, a woman wrote about her \u201caha moment\u201d when she\u200d knew her marriage was over\u2062 and led \u200bto her divorce. The subject of the post read, \u201cWhat was your \u2018this is over\u2019 \u200cmoment in your marriage,\u201d so I perused through it. This woman\u2062 wanted to hear other\u2062 people talk about the moments they realized their marriage was over.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u200c her post, she did\u200b not want to paint her husband in \u200ba bad light. But she goes on saying, \u200d\u201cHowever, I can\u2019t stop thinking about something he \u200dsaid to me, and at that \u200bmoment, I knew it was it, that I wanted more.\u201d She had a meeting at work one morning\u200b but\u2064 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-to-review-boston-bomber-case-might-reinstate-death-sentence\/\" title=\"Supreme Court To Review Boston Bomber Case, Might Reinstate Death Sentence\">20 minutes late<\/a>. Her work <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-divorce-ever-okay\/\" title=\"Is Divorce Ever Okay?\">accidentally called<\/a> her husband (her emergency contact), meaning to call her. \u200cThey explained the mistake in calling him, she got\u2062 to work, and everyone went about\u2064 their day. \u2063But \u2063when\u2062 she got home, she asked why he didn\u2019t contact\u200b her to\u2062 make sure she was alright. After some back and forth, he said \u200dhe knew the police would have called him if she\u2019d been in an accident. That was her\u200b eureka\u200b moment because, according \u200dto her, \u201che\u200b did not care, not one little \u2064bit.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Jumping\u2062 to \u2064Conclusions: A Questionable Reason for Divorce<\/h3>\n<p>Reading\u200d this, I \u2063could not believe \u200dthis \u2062was grounds for divorce for her. The first thing I thought about was the poor \u200bemployee \u200dwho accidentally called her husband. Then, her husband answered, said no problem on the mix-up call, and no\u2064 one thought anything of it. But she somehow twisted this in her head to ask, \u201cWhat if I had been in an accident?\u201d She was\u2063 basically implying: <i>What if I was dead? Why weren\u2019t you hysterical? Shouldn\u2019t you\u2062 be?<\/i> This woman was 20 minutes late\u2063 \u2014 not two hours late. There was no reason to\u200b be <i>that<\/i> concerned. It makes sense someone from \u200bwork would \u2064call when, as the post states, the person she was meeting with was waiting \u2063for\u200b her to arrive. It makes entirely <i>no sense<\/i> she would be upset with her husband for not\u2064 making up some ludicrous scenario in his mind that she\u2019s been in\u2062 a terrible accident.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VbGrfxn479k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WATCH: \u2062The\u2064 Official Trailer for \u2018Convicting\u2063 A Murderer\u2019<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>She was so upset with him that she \u2063was willing\u200c to divorce him. This is stunning. The fact \u2064that she shared \u200bthis says she \u200bthought we would all just\u200d understand. She\u200c expected we would understand why \u200bshe knew right then and there that he did not care one little bit. And she knew she wanted \u201cmore\u201d? What is the \u201cmore\u201d\u200b she wanted? Drama? This passage starts by acknowledging\u2064 him as \u201ca good man, hardworking, loyal.\u201d So\u2062 outside\u200b this incident \u2014 \u2064the incident in \u200bwhich he forgot to pretend she had been in a car accident and \u2062hysterically ring a false alarm\u200d \u2014 he was a good man. She\u200c allowed this little seed to fester and grow into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/relationship-adhd-the-leading-cause-of-divorce\/\" title=\"ADHD in Relationships: A Major Divorce Trigger\">full-blown scenario<\/a> \u200bshe couldn\u2019t get over.<\/p>\n<p>So she divorced \u200da good, hardworking, loyal man.\u200b I would say she will absolutely regret this divorce because if she thinks \u200cshe is going to \u200bfind a man who is \u2063so upstanding he will know how to react to the figments of her imagination, she\u2019s out\u200b of her mind. In \u2062fact, if she finds a man who <i>will<\/i> \u2064 be that over the top in a similar\u2063 situation, she will think he\u2019s too theatrical \u2063and doesn\u2019t know how to relax: She can\u2019t even run 20 minutes\u200d late \u2062without him calling the police? Who would want to be married to that drama?<\/p>\n<h2>The Problem with Modern Relationships<\/h2>\n<p>We continue \u2064to see examples like this \u2064in the media, on television,\u2064 and\u200c in shows about relationships where people have the wrong idea of\u2062 what it means to be married. Part of the reason \u200dthat\u2019s the\u200d case is because it\u2019s too easy to \u2062get divorced. People don\u2019t want\u2062 to\u2062 work through anything. They don\u2019t even \u200cwant\u2062 to work through a 20-minute delay getting to work. So, they just leave in\u2064 search of\u2062 the perfect partner. But there is no such thing as a perfect partner who is not going to make any mistakes so your life is absolutely perfect.<\/p>\n<p>We must stop being so fickle. We must learn how to focus.
