Mr. Miele is accused of impersonating an individual identified as &#8220;Person\u2064 #1, a high-ranking aide,&#8221; in both\u200b email and telephone communications \u200dwith potential campaign contributors.<\/p>\n<p>Using a false email account created in that individual&#8217;s name, Mr. Miele allegedly sent \u2063fraudulent fundraising solicitations to more than a dozen potential \u200ccontributors. The indictment states that Mr. Miele received\u2064 a commission of 15 percent of each\u200b contribution he \u200csuccessfully raised.<\/p>\n<p>The document further alleges that Mr. Miele&#8217;s actions \u2064were unauthorized by the individual he was \u200bimpersonating, the \u2063campaign, or other agents of the campaign. However, it goes on to assert that Mr. Miele sent\u200b a letter \u2062to Mr. \u200dSantos, admitting to &#8220;faking my identity \u200cto a big\u200b donor,&#8221; saying he was \u2064&#8221;high risk, high reward in everything I do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The indictment claims that the fraudulent scheme enriched Mr. Miele while deceiving potential contributors and compromising the integrity of the campaign&#8217;s fundraising efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Miele faces multiple counts of wire fraud, with each count corresponding to specific instances where he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fundraiser-for-rep-george-santos-indicted-for-allegedly-impersonating-congressional-aide\/\" title=\"Fundraiser for Rep. George Santos Accused of Posing as Congressional Aide\">allegedly transmitted\u2064 fraudulent fundraising solicitations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to wire fraud charges, Mr. Miele\u2064 is charged with aggravated identity theft \u2062for knowingly and intentionally possessing and using another person&#8217;s identity without lawful authority.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment also includes a criminal forfeiture allegation, notifying Mr. Miele that the government will\u200d seek forfeiture of any property, real or personal, obtained directly or indirectly as a result of the alleged offenses.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillPascrell\/status\/1691880566180733268?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weighed in<\/a> on the issue on\u200b X, formerly Twitter, saying, \u201cWith the arrest of\u200d George Santos\u2019s \u2064aide \u200da \u2063reminder that when we \u2063voted to expel\u2062 indicted \u200bfraudster and con artist Santos 100% of House Republicans voted to block us and \u2062keep \u200bSantos in Congress.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Charges Against Santos<\/h2>\n<p>News of Mr. Miele&#8217;s charges came just three months after Mr. Santos&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/rep-george-santos-charged-with-fraud-money-laundering-theft-5254012?utm_source=open&#038;utm_medium=search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> \u200c arrest on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-2024-candidates-react-to-possible-trump-indictment-over-jan-6\/\" title=\"GOP 2024 hopefuls respond to potential Trump indictment for Jan. 6.\">federal\u2064 criminal charges<\/a><\/a> in relation to an alleged scheme involving \u200bfraud, money laundering, and theft of public funds.<\/p>\n<p>The 13-count indictment, unsealed on May 10, charges\u200c Mr. Santos, 34, with defrauding prospective \u200bpolitical\u200c supporters by laundering funds to\u200c pay for his personal expenses and illegally receiving unemployment benefits while he was employed.<\/p>\n<p>He is also accused of making\u200b false\u200c statements to the House of Representatives about his assets, income, and liabilities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This indictment seeks to hold Santos accountable\u2062 for various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/george-santos-arrested-on-federal-fraud-charges\/\" title=\"George Santos arrested for federal fraud.\">alleged fraudulent schemes<\/a> and brazen misrepresentations,&#8221; \u200bsaid U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New\u200d York Breon \u200bPeace in \u200ba statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Taken together, the allegations \u200bin the\u2062 indictment charge\u200d Santos with relying on repeated\u200c dishonesty and\u200c deception to ascend to the halls of \u2062Congress and\u2062 enrich \u200chimself. He used political \u200ccontributions to line his pockets, unlawfully applied for unemployment benefits that should have gone to New Yorkers who\u200d had lost their jobs due to the pandemic, and lied to \u200bthe House of Representatives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The \u200dfirst-term congressman was arrested on the morning of May 10. He pleaded not guilty. The next court date is set for Sept. 7.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u200b Santos has been under intense scrutiny over allegedly lying about large parts of his \u2063personal background and professional history, some of which he has admitted to\u2063 fabricating.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u2063 Department of Justice, Mr. Santos used an LLC to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-george-santos-arrested-on-fraud-money-laundering-theft-charges\/\" title=\"Rep.
