New Research Faces 2 Controversies\">significantly lower levels<\/a>\u2064 for Anheuser-Busch InBev than pre-controversy,\u201d Evercore ISI analyst Robert Ottenstein added\u2063 in a separate note, <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/bud-light-sales-are-still-stale-133123389.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to \u2062Yahoo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The slump in sales came after Bud Light made a promotional package for a transgender TikTok\u2063 activist,\u2064 Dylan Mulvaney, sparking backlash and \u2063sales declines. The company has not directly addressed the transgender controversy, although its U.S. chief executive\u2063 said the brand \u200dnever sought to be part of a divisive issue.<\/p>\n<p>In May, the CEO of AB-InBev, Michel Doukeris, attempted to distance the beer brand with the Mulvaney incident \u200dand\u2064 said that only &#8220;one can&#8221; with the influencer&#8217;s face \u2064was produced.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt was one post.\u2063 It \u200bwas not an\u200d advertisement,\u201d Mr.\u2064 Doukeris told Financial Times in May.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200d influencer was not part of an official marketing campaign, Mr. Doukeris \u2063said. He added \u2064that social media-driven &#8220;misinformation&#8221; and &#8220;confusion&#8221; were part of the problem, without\u200d elaborating.<\/p>\n<p>In the call, Mr. Doukeris said\u200c his company\u2064 would triple its investment in Bud Light over the summer. At the same time, it would provide bonuses and incentives to front-line workers \u2062like drivers.<\/p>\n<p>But Bump Williams,\u200c president of Bump Williams Consulting, told the Wall Street Journal that spending more to fix the problem won&#8217;t do much.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Bud Light shopper who\u2019s left the brand has zero\u2063 interest in coming back,\u201d Mr.\u200d Williams said, \u201cso you\u200d can spend all \u2063the money you want, but until you fix the problem\u2014apologize\u200d and admit you made a mistake\u2014it\u2019s\u200b wasted money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, analysts with Deutsche Bank conducted a survey \u2064with 600 respondents, finding \u2062that \u200cthe\u200d proportion of consumers\u200b who no longer purchase Bud Light fell from 21 percent to 19 percent. It also found that\u200c Bud Light drinkers who say they are very unlikely to buy\u2062 the brand in the next three to six months fell from 18 percent to 3 percent this month, according\u200b to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/money\/companies\/the-bud-light-boycott-may-be-running-out-of-steam-deutsche-bank-analysts-say-after-commissioning-survey\/ar-AA1flwto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MarketWatch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month,\u200c AB InBev confirmed that U.S. revenue fell 10 percent in the second quarter due to slumping Bud Light sales.\u2062 Revenue fell $395 million in North America during the same time period, it said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team\u2063 in the U.S. [is] working hard \u200dto build\u2063 it back and to earn back consumers,\u201d Mr. Doukeris said \u2064earlier in the month during\u2062 an investor call.<\/p>\n<p>Days later, Anheuser-Busch said it is \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/article\/bud-light-parent-company-selling-off-eight-beer-brands-amid-transgender-boycott-5451319\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">selling eight craft beer brands<\/a> \u2062to\u200d Tilray\u200c Brands, including Shock Top,\u200b Breckenridge Brewery, Blue Point Brewing\u200d Company, 10\u200d Barrel Brewing Company, Redhook Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewing, Square Mile \u2062Cider Company, and Hiball Energy.<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times contacted Anheuser-Busch for comment on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<h2>Busch Family Suggests Sale<\/h2>\n<p>Anheuser-Busch \u2063heir Billy Busch revealed he would \u2062be willing to \u2062buy back Bud Light\u2062 if \u200bAnheuser-Busch InBev attempted to sell it in the midst\u200c of a monthslong boycott.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they don\u2019t want that brand any longer, sell it back to the Busch \u200dfamily,\u201d Mr. Busch told Outkick. \u201cSell it to me. I\u2019ll be the first in line to buy that\u200c brand back from \u2062you, and we\u2019ll make that brand great again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Busch family sold Annheuser-Busch, which\u2063 owned Budweiser and Bud Light,\u2062 to \u2062Netherlands-based InBev in 2008. That made Anheuser-Busch InBev the largest brewer \u200bin the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat \u2064culture is completely gone now,\u201d Mr. \u2063Busch \u2062said. \u201cThey knew who their \u200cdrinkers were &#8230; ev<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>beleaguered Bud Light brand are declining.
