However, despite this new opportunity, airlines have been \u2063cautious in taking \u200dadvantage of the revised \u2062regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA&#8217;s announcement, made last month, comes almost two years after\u2062 the United States handed over control of Afghanistan to the Taliban.\u2064 The agency stated that flights above 32,000 feet &#8220;may resume due to\u2062 diminished risks to U.S. civil aviation operations at \u2062those \u200caltitudes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Concerns \u2064Over Air Travel in Afghanistan<\/h3>\n<p>Following the Taliban&#8217;s takeover in August 2021, civil aviation in Afghanistan\u200c came to a halt due to \u200dfears of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/panetta-u-s-should-punish-russian-aggression-with-cyber-attacks-on-infrastructure-electric-grid-pipelines\/\" title=\"Panetta: U.S. Should Punish Russian Aggression with 'Cyber' Attacks on Infrastructure, Electric Grid, Pipelines\">anti-aircraft missiles<\/a> being used against planes.\u200c Safe Airspace,\u2063 a conflict zone and risk database, argues that despite the FAA&#8217;s decision, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-federal-investigators-reveal-likely-reason-for-helicopter-crash-that-killed-kobe-bryant\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Federal Investigators Reveal Likely Reason For Helicopter Crash That Killed Kobe Bryant\">air traffic<\/a>\u200d should still avoid \u200cthe country. They highlight the risks of direct and indirect fire targeting airports and surface-to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/faa-loosens-flight-restrictions-over-afghanistan-but-airlines-arent-quick-to-resume-practice\/\" title=\"FAA eases flight restrictions in Afghanistan, but airlines hesitant to resume operations.\">-air fire targeting low-altitude aircraft<\/a>. Additionally, the lack of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/search-and-rescue-teams-at-site-of-indonesian-plane-crash\/\" title=\"Search and rescue teams at site of Indonesian plane crash\">air traffic control<\/a>\u2064 services and the overall conflict pose extreme threats to the safety and security of aircraft and crew on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these concerns, \u200bsome airlines \u200bhave\u2064 started flying over the Wakhan \u2064Corridor, a sparsely populated panhandle between\u2064 Tajikistan and Pakistan. The Associated Press reports that United Airlines, for example, operates \u200ca nonstop flight from Newark, New Jersey, to New Delhi, with a flight path that includes the Wakhan Corridor. However, if\u200c the main parts of Afghanistan \u2064were utilized instead of avoiding them, the approximately 14-hour flight could potentially be shortened.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In accordance with current FAA rules,\u200c United operates Newark to New Delhi flights over \u200ca small\u2063 section of\u2064 Afghanistan where air traffic control is provided by other countries,&#8221; said United spokesman Josh Freed. &#8220;We do not plan to expand our use of Afghan airspace\u2062 at this time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Other airlines, such as American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Air\u2064 India, also fly over the Wakhan Corridor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Click here to read more from The Washington \u2064Examiner.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The FAA eased restrictions on U.S. commercial aircraft flying over Afghanistan, but airlines are reluctant to take advantage.
