George Santos (R-NY) \u200dhas once again found \u2062himself\u200b in violation \u200dof House ethics rules by \u200dfailing to file his \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ethics-watchdog-calls-for-probe-into-house-democrat-kim-schriers-stock-transactions\/\" title=\"Ethics Watchdog Calls for Probe into House Democrat Kim Schrier's Stock Transactions\">annual financial report<\/a> for the\u200c last fiscal year. This defies the requirement for members to \u200ddisclose their earnings and assets, putting him in hot \u200dwater.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-ags-want-to-push-companies-into-revealing-climate-change-prevention-plans\/\" title=\"Democrat AGs Want To Push Companies Into Revealing \u2018Climate Change\u2019 Prevention Plans\">annual disclosures<\/a> were originally due on May 15, but Santos requested a 90-day \u2063extension, pushing the \u200bdeadline \u200bto Aug. 13. However, as of Wednesday morning, the New York Republican had still not filed his report,\u2062 according to the House financial disclosure reports database.<\/p>\n<h3>Consequences of Non-Compliance<\/h3>\n<p>Under the Ethics in Government Act, members of the House\u2062 and Senate are obligated to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/george-santos-violates-ethics-rules-after-failing-to-file-annual-financial-report\/\" title=\"George Santos breaches ethics rules by neglecting to submit annual financial report.\">submit annual \u2062financial reports<\/a>. Failure to do so results in a $200 late filing fee. Santos\u200c may be able to apply\u2063 for\u2063 a waiver if \u2063he can demonstrate &#8220;extraordinary circumstances,&#8221; although it remains uncertain whether he will pursue this option.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Santos \u200cdid not respond to a \u2064request for comment from the Washington Examiner.<\/p>\n<h3>Legal Troubles and Expulsion Attempt<\/h3>\n<p>This violation adds to Santos&#8217; legal troubles, as he was indicted\u200c by the \u2062Justice\u2062 Department in May on multiple charges, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-democratic-california-rep-tj-cox-indicted-for-fraud-faces-up-to-55-years-in-prison\/\" title=\"Former Democratic California Rep. Santos has pleaded not guilty and dismissed the \u200callegations \u200cas politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>In mid-May, House Democrats \u200cattempted to expel Santos from office, but their efforts were thwarted when House Republicans \u200bmotioned to refer the matter\u200b to the Ethics Committee. This \u200cmotion passed with a \u200csimple majority, preventing Santos&#8217; expulsion.<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker \u2062Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) stated that the Ethics Committee would conduct a 60-day review, which expired \u200bbefore Congress adjourned for its annual\u200d August recess.\u200d The current \u200dstatus of the inquiry remains unclear, as the \u2064committee declined to\u200d comment\u200c on the matter.<\/p>\n<h3>Pressure to Resign<\/h3>\n<p>Despite surviving the expulsion attempt, Santos has faced calls from several Republicans, including \u200bfellow New York freshmen representatives, to resign.
