The \u200cformer \u2064NFL player&#8217;s allegations have been denied by the\u2062 family. He claims that he was\u200b told he was adopted,\u2063 when\u200c in fact he entered into a conservatorship that \u2064diverted profits he \u200dshould\u200c have realized into the hands of the\u200d Tuohys.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The \u200dlie of Michael&#8217;s adoption is one upon which Co-Conservators Leigh Anne \u2062Tuohy and Sean Tuohy have enriched themselves at the expense\u200c of their Ward, the undersigned Michael Oher,&#8221; the\u2064 petition to\u200d terminate the conservatorship in\u200d Shelby County \u2062Court\u200b in Tennessee said, according to \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/michael-oher-blind-side-touhy-adoption-lie-rcna99823\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On Tuesday, attorney\u200d Martin Singer issued a statement saying Oher\u200b tried\u2063 to shake down the family, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/38199104\/tuohy-family-disputes-michael-oher-claims-alleges-shakedown-blind-side-subject\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Calling Oher&#8217;s allegations &#8220;outlandish,&#8221; the statement added \u2062that &#8220;the \u200cidea that the family ever sought to profit off Mr. Oher \u2064is\u200b not \u2062only offensive, it is transparently ridiculous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;In reality, the Tuohys opened their home\u200d to Mr. Oher, offered him structure, support and, most of\u2064 all, unconditional love,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They have consistently treated \u2062him like \u200ba son and \u200done \u200bof their \u2063three children. His response\u200b was to\u200d threaten them, including\u200b saying that he would plant a \u200bnegative story\u200c about them in the press unless they paid\u2062 him $15 million.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Do you believe Michael \u200dOher&#8217;s allegations?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes<\/li>\n<li>No<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Oher has claimed\u200b he received nothing out of the more than\u2062 $300 million earned\u2064 by the film, claiming the\u2063 Tuohys were each paid $225,000,\u2063 plus\u2062 2.5 percent of the film&#8217;s\u200c &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michael-oher-from-blind-side-claims-tuohys-never-adopted-him-made-millions\/\" title=\"Michael Oher, of 'Blind Side' fame, says Tuohys never adopted him, earned millions.\">defined net proceeds<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Singer&#8217;s statement said that\u200c agents for\u2062 Michael Lewis, who wrote the \u200bbook that was the foundation \u200dfor the film, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/former-nfl-player-dead-28-years-old\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presented a deal<\/a> in\u2063 which the Tuohys &#8220;received a\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-ambassador-to-russia-departs-post\/\" title=\"U.S. Ambassador to Russia Departs Post\">small advance<\/a> \u200bfrom\u2062 the production company and a tiny percentage of net profits.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They insisted \u2062that any money received\u2063 be divided equally. And they \u200dhave made good on that pledge,&#8221; \u2064the statement said. &#8220;The evidence \u2014 documented in profit participation checks and studio accounting statements \u2014 is\u200c clear: \u2062Over the years, the Tuohys have given Mr. Oher an equal cut of every penny received from &#8216;The Blind Side.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even\u2064 recently, when Mr. Oher\u200b started to threaten them about what \u200che would \u2063do unless they paid him \u200can eight-figure windfall, and,\u2062 as part of that\u2063 shakedown effort \u2062refused\u2062 to cash the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blind-side-son-on-accusations-from-ex-nfl-star-michael-oher-i-get-it-why-hes-mad\/\" title=\"'Blind Side' son understands ex-NFL star's anger\">small profit checks<\/a> \u200dfrom the Tuohys,\u200c they still deposited Mr. Oher&#8217;s \u2062equal share into a trust account they\u2062 set up for \u200bhis son,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Oher &#8220;has actually attempted to run this play several times before \u2014 but it seems that \u2062numerous other lawyers stopped representing him once\u200d they saw\u2063 the evidence\u2062 and learned the truth. Sadly,\u2064 Mr. Oher has \u2062finally found a willing enabler and filed this ludicrous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/massachusetts-denies-catholic-couple-right-foster-kids-faith-not-supportive-lgbt-beliefs-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> as a cynical attempt to drum \u200dup\u200b attention \u2064in the middle of\u200b his \u2063latest book tour,&#8221; the\u2064 statement continued.<\/p>\n<p>Oher wants the conservatorship ended and what he calls a fair share of the \u200dprofits. Singer said the family is not against ending the conservatorship, but added, they &#8220;will not\u200d hesitate to defend their good names, stand up to \u2062this shakedown and \u2064defeat this offensive lawsuit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Attorney\u200b Don \u200bBarrett, part of Oher&#8217;s legal team, was \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/former-nfl-player-immortalized-blind-side-drops-bombshell-lie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not impressed<\/a> with the opposition&#8217;s\u2062 statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We try cases in the courtroom\u2062 based on the\u200b facts. We have \u2064confidence in our judicial system \u2063and in our client Michael Oher.
