While the Makawao fire did not reach Lahaina, it was one\u200c of\u200b several fires that broke \u200cout on the island \u200blast week, following strong winds\u2064 from a distant hurricane.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Whisker Labs, \u200da company that monitors \u2062electric grids \u200cacross the\u200c U.S., reported that 10 sensors in Makawao recorded a significant incident in Hawaii&#8217;s electric \u200bgrid \u2062at the exact \u2062moment the\u2063 video captured the bright light from the utility line. The flash seen in the video is likely an &#8220;arc flash,&#8221; \u2063which occurs when a \u2063power line experiences \u2063a fault.
