Not to Judge Robert McBurney and Fulton County District Attorney \u200cFani Willis,\u200d who used this week\u2019s indictment to try\u2062 out \u200btheir comedy chops.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday,\u200b Trump and 18 associates were charged over their efforts to challenge the outcome\u2063 of the \u20622020 \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/georgia-arraignment-likely-backfire-trump-picks-strategic-day-turn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presidential race in Georgia<\/a>,\u200c according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/opinion\/columnists\/opinion-fultons-judge-mcburney-still-the-hardest-working-judge-in-georgia\/YTQQGZY5SNCZ7NKNHDKZHC7X5U\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlanta \u2063Journal-Constitution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment \u2014 like any \u200cTrump indictment\u200c as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/unbelievable-da-and-presiding-judge-both-crack-jokes-as-trump-is-indicted-in-georgia\/\" title=\"DA and Presiding Judge share laughs as Trump faces indictment in Georgia.\">2024 campaign \u200bseason ramps<\/a> up \u2014 was hardly unexpected. href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/vivek-ramaswamy-goes-bat-trump-gives-defense-strategy-georgia-courts-latest-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">district attorney In fact, I\u2019m halfway surprised \u200bthese folks didn\u2019t\u2062 play Kool and the Gang\u2019s \u201cCelebration\u201d as\u2063 background music during these clips.<\/p>\n<p>These are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/free-speech-not-absolute-obama-judge-admonishes-trump-limiting-access-sensitive-evidence-jan-6-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fundamentally \u200dunserious prosecutions<\/a>, a fact underlined by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jumbo-calendar-shows-suspicious-timing-trump-indictments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wholly suspicious timing<\/a> of them. And, while these jokes might not have been out of\u2063 place during normal circumstances, the fact is that this is hardly normal \u2014 or, at least, it shouldn\u2019t be.<\/p>\n<p>When judges and prosecutors can hardly contain their glee at \u200bdragging the political opposition into court, there\u2019s something wrong.
