He faces charges including obstruction of justice conspiracy and \u200dlying to investigators.<\/p>\n<p>During a court appearance on July 31, De Oliveira did not \u2062enter a plea as he needed to secure representation based in \u2063Florida.<\/p>\n<p>At that hearing, the judge ordered De Oliveira\u2064 to surrender his passport and sign an\u2062 agreement to pay $100,000 if he failed to appear in court.<\/p>\n<p>After the hearing, De Oliveira&#8217;s attorney, John Irving, expressed eagerness to review any potential evidence the\u2062 Justice Department may have. However, \u2062he \u2063declined \u2062to \u2063comment \u200don whether\u200b De Oliveira had been asked to testify against President Trump.<\/p>\n<p>According to Smith, President Trump allegedly moved boxes containing defense-related \u200cinformation to his home upon leaving the White House. He is also\u200b accused \u2062of directing Nauta to move the boxes to prevent them from being searched after the Department of Justice \u2062subpoenaed them\u200c in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Nauta, who is also facing charges, pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>On July\u200d 27, Smith added\u2064 three more charges, alleging that President Trump asked\u2064 De Oliveira to delete\u2062 security camera footage after the Department of Justice subpoenaed \u200bit.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump has repeatedly denied these allegations, stating that no footage was deleted and \u2063that\u200b he never made such a request.<\/p>\n<h2>Case Against Trump<\/h2>\n<p>During an arraignment \u200bon August 10 at\u2064 the same courthouse, \u2062President \u200dTrump\u200d pleaded not guilty to three new charges brought by Smith. He is facing \u200ca total of\u2064 38 counts,\u200d including willful retention of national defense information, obstruction, and making false statements.<\/p>\n<p>The trial for the former president, scheduled for May 2024, will be presided over by Judge Aileen Cannon, a \u2063Trump administration appointee.<\/p>\n<p>In the \u2062latest development of\u2062 the case, \u2064President Trump&#8217;s attorneys have requested the reestablishment\u2064 of a Sensitive \u2063Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) at his residence.
