(Madalina Vasiliu\/The Epoch Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The White House\u200b did not respond to an email \u200cseeking comment for this story.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns have been raised \u200cfollowing an Aug. 1 \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/craigslist-guns-no-background-checks-121007849.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Times report<\/a> which \u200dsuggests that gun \u2064control activists\u2063 want to require individuals engaged in \u200c&#8221;for-profit&#8221; private online gun sales \u200bto obtain a Federal Firearms License (FFL) and adhere to the same\u2062 guidelines as \u2064brick and mortar\u200c gun dealers. Currently, all sales must comply with applicable \u2062laws, including the involvement\u2062 of an FFL holder in firearm shipping. \u200bSelling guns to individuals who are prohibited from owning them is also illegal.<\/p>\n<p>The BSCA, hailed\u200d as &#8220;the most significant gun safety\u200c legislation in 30 years,&#8221; revised the \u200ddefinition of \u200ca gun dealer to focus solely \u200con profit-seeking rather than livelihood. However, the exact \u200cboundaries of this definition remain unclear.<\/p>\n<p>According\u200c to The New York Times, gun \u2063control activists propose classifying anyone\u2062 who \u2063sells five or fewer\u200c guns per year as a gun dealer. (Madalina Vasiliu\/The\u2064 Epoch Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This would include conducting background checks\u200b and maintaining records of \u2064all \u2064gun sales.<\/p>\n<p>Reports suggest that the Biden administration has\u200c directed\u2063 the \u2062Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF)\u2064 to issue a rule clarifying the definition\u2064 of a gun dealer. Second Amendment advocates argue that this rule would effectively ban private \u200btransfers \u200cof firearms and establish a de facto universal\u2064 background check and national gun registry system.<\/p>\n<p>An ATF spokesperson stated \u200cthat \u200cany\u2063 rule would be\u200c developed in accordance\u2062 with\u200d established policies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As part of\u200d the implementation \u2062of the BSCA, ATF is\u2063 developing \u2062a proposed rule \u2063and \u2062going through the proper process. However, she believes that \u2062certain \u200dregulations are necessary\u200c to ensure safer communities.
