She noticed many parents began documenting their young children\u2019s lives on social platforms. <\/p>\n<p>She told the press that she specifically was struck by seeing kids\u2062 who she thought were not old enough\u200c to know the full \u2063consequences of being posted online.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe more I fell down that rabbit hole, I kept \u2063seeing cases of exploitation,\u201d she said. \u201cEspecially for very young children who maybe\u200b don\u2019t understand what talking to \u2063a camera means and they\u2019re not able to conceptualize what a million people looks like, they don\u2019t understand what they\u2019re putting out into the internet\u2063 for profit and that it\u2019s \u200cnot\u200b going to be able to go away and that their parents are making money off of it.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-Ill.), who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilga.gov\/legislation\/publicacts\/fulltext.asp?Name=103-0556\">signed into law S.B. 1782<\/a>, this is a\u00a0legislation that \u201ccreates a private right of action for child\u200c influencers \u200cagainst their parents that \u200dfeatured \u2062them in videos and did not\u200d properly \u200ccompensate them.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>State Senator David \u200bKoehler (D-Ill), who introduced the law,\u200c attributes its inspiration to Nallamothu. It is reported that when Nallamothu learned that no\u200c states at the time had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/illinois-becomes-1st-state-with-law-that-protects-child-influencers\/\" title=\"Illinois pioneers child influencer protection law.\">laws protecting child influencers<\/a>, she \u2064contacted \u2062Koehler\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWhen\u200c I went\u2062 into it, I wasn\u2019t 100% sure what I was doing. I didn\u2019t go into it expecting\u2064 to pass a bill within a year,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m very grateful for Sen. Koehler and his team for paying attention to \u200ba constituent.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The\u200d recently passed law introduced an amendment to the state\u2019s already in \u2063place Child Labor\u200d Law. It will now include the participation of \u200dchildren in\u2062 the realm of social media usage in the \u2062statute.<\/p>\n<p>The law states \u200dthat if within \u2064a 30-day period, a kid under the age of 16 appears in\u2064 at least\u2062 30% of a piece\u2063 of online content for which the adult is being paid, they must \u200creceive compensation. The person who creates the video in which the minor appears is in charge of reserving funds\u200d in a trust account for the child to obtain at the age of 18.<\/p>\n<p>The law is said to be\u2063 implemented on January 1<sup>st<\/sup> of 2024. <\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
