It&#8217;s a work in progress.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Newsom did not provide further details about the proposed legislation. \u200bHis impromptu announcement was prompted by a reporter&#8217;s question regarding two Southern California school districts that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/californias-newsom-hints-at-legislative-crackdown-on-parental-rights\/\" title=\"Newsom suggests stricter laws on parental rights in California.\">recently passed \u2062policies<\/a> to \u2063notify parents if their children identify as transgender \u200cor nonbinary.\u200c Representatives for Newsom and the state&#8217;s top Democratic legislators did\u200c not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>This potential legislative push follows threats from the administration towards the Chino Valley Unified School District and Murrieta Valley Unified School District, the first two districts in the state to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-governor-failing-to-notify-parents-when-their-child-changes-gender-is-the-american-way\/\" title=\"Governor: Not informing parents about child's gender change is 'American way'\">implement parental notification policies<\/a>. Last week, the California Department of Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/this-is-a-ploy-california-ag-launches-probe-into-district-that-voted-to-alert-parents-if-children-identify-as-trans\/\">launched<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maxine-waters-asks-doj-to-investigate-alleged-rogue-violent-gang-of-deputies-within-l-a-county-sheriffs-dept\/\" title=\"Maxine Waters Asks DOJ To Investigate Alleged \u2018Rogue, Violent Gang\u2019 Of Deputies Within L.A. County Sheriff\u2019s Dept\">civil rights probe<\/a> into Chino Valley. Attorney General\u2063 Rob Bonta and state superintendent of public schools Tony\u2063 Thurmond have both suggested that the districts may\u2064 be violating California law, although they have\u2064 not specified which law.<\/p>\n<p>Supporters of\u2062 the districts argue that the pending bill is evidence that the threats had no legal basis.<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Isn&#8217;t it ironic that they claim everything they\u2063 did was legal?&#8221; remarked Greg Burt, director of capitol engagement for the California Family Council. &#8220;If it&#8217;s legal, why do they\u2062 need to pass new laws? Maybe it&#8217;s not \u200das legal \u2063as they claimed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The bill is expected to receive minimal scrutiny\u2062 or debate, as it is being introduced at \u200cthe end of the legislative session.
