DeSantis \u200dhighlighted that the RICO statute, under which Trump is\u2063 being charged,\u200c was originally intended to combat organized \u200ccrime rather than political \u2064activities.<\/p>\n<p>According\u200d to Gov. DeSantis, Atlanta \u200bis\u2064 allocating an \u200cexcessive amount of resources to pursue the \u2063contestation of the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>While acknowledging the\u200b allocation of resources in \u200cTrump&#8217;s\u2063 case, he pointed out that &#8220;Atlanta has\u2064 significant crime issues \u2062at present. The approach to crime \u2063has been far from rigorous, and there\u2064 have been instances where criminals who should have been detained were released.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Neither Gov. DeSantis nor \u2063Sen. Scott\u2062 provided \u200bstatements on the indictment when initially asked on Monday evening. However, they responded \u200cearly on Tuesday.
