Each misdemeanor charge for an alleged\u2063 failure to pay taxes carries \u200ba maximum\u2062 penalty of 12 months in prison.<\/p>\n<h3>Defense Motion and New Filing<\/h3>\n<p>On \u200dTuesday, the \u2062defense\u200c filed a\u2062 motion for lead\u200d attorney Chris Clark\u200c to withdraw from the \u200bcase, citing \u2062a potential conflict of interest. The\u2063 filing stated \u2063that Clark&#8217;s withdrawal\u200c would not cause\u200c substantial hardship as Biden has other \u2062lawyers to assist him.<\/p>\n<p>The new filing from Weiss&#8217;s\u200c team addressed some of Clark&#8217;s\u2064 remarks \u2063during the hearing where the plea deal hit an impasse.
