Here is a timeline of \u2063the Fulton County investigation beginning in 2020.<\/p>\n<h3>2020<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In November, Trump lost the 2020 election\u2062 in Georgia\u200b to candidate Joe Biden. Georgia Secretary\u200b of State Brad Raffensperger and Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) certified the election results on Nov. 20, with Raffensperger having stated that there was no evidence of voter fraud.<\/li>\n<li>Throughout December, Giuliani spread baseless conspiracy\u2063 theories and accused two election workers of\u2063 election \u2062fraud. Eastman also suggested an alternate slate of electors to support Trump in the Electoral College.<\/li>\n<li>Kenneth Chesebro proposed a &#8220;bold, controversial strategy&#8221; to overturn the 2020 election, according to a secret memo \u200dwritten in 2020 but released by the New York Times on Aug. 9, 2023.<\/li>\n<li>A group of\u2062 16 alternate or &#8220;fake&#8221; electors also\u200d gathered at the Georgia Capitol, perceived as gearing up to vote for Trump. These electors would later send false certificates to the National Archives in Washington,\u2063 D.C.<\/li>\n<li>On Dec. 23, Frances Watson,\u200b the lead investigator for Raffensperger&#8217;s office, recorded a phone call she\u2064 had with Trump in \u2064which he urged \u200dher to find fraud.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2021<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Willis became the first black \u200cwoman to hold the position of district attorney of\u2063 Fulton County on Jan. 1, 2021.<\/li>\n<li>In an infamous phone call\u200b in early January, Trump told Raffensperger:\u200d &#8220;All I\u2063 want to do is this, I \u200djust want\u200d to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won\u2064 the state.&#8221; Four\u2062 days later, riots occurred at the\u2062 U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The presidential election was certified that night.<\/li>\n<li>The recent indictment alleges that\u200b there were attempts at election interference in Coffee County, Georgia, just one day after\u200c Biden&#8217;s \u2064presidency\u200b was certified.<\/li>\n<li>On Feb. 11, Willis sent letters to Kemp\u200c and Raffensperger asking them \u2064to\u200b preserve documents that relate to an investigation being \u200dconducted by her office, the matter later \u200drevealed to be\u2062 the Jan.\u200c 2, 2021 phone call\u200b to Raffensperger.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2022<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Toward the end of January, Willis requested that\u2064 Fulton County&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-indicted-timeline-of-fulton-county-grand-jury-investigation\/\" title=\"Fulton County grand jury investigates and indicts Donald Trump.\">chief judge begin building<\/a>\u2064 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ny-prosecutors-convene-grand-jury-to-hear-evidence-in-criminal-investigation-into-trump-others\/\" title=\"NY Prosecutors Convene Grand Jury To Hear Evidence In Criminal Investigation Into Trump, Others\">special grand jury<\/a> \u200dfor her investigation into Trump.<\/li>\n<li>In May, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/like-the-j6-committee-fulton-county-da-works-overtime-to-criminalize-challenges-to-election-law-violations\/\" title=\"Like The J6 Committee, Fulton County DA Works Overtime To Criminalize Challenges To Election Law Violations\">special grand jury convened<\/a> with 23 people and three alternate jurors. \u2063The jury was given subpoena power but not the power to indict. Over the course of the investigation,\u200b jurors interviewed 75 witnesses and subpoenaed documents from more people.<\/li>\n<li>High-profile witnesses include Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who \u200bfought his subpoena all the way to the Georgia Supreme Court before being ordered to testify. Giuliani and Raffensperger also appeared to testify.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2023<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Judge \u200cRobert McBurney, who oversaw the grand jury, submitted an order on Jan. 9 indicating that the jurors had completed their\u200b work \u200band submitted a report.<\/li>\n<li>Willis&#8217;s office released a small portion\u2063 of the grand jury report on Feb. 16. In the report, grand\u200c jurors said \u200bthere was not &#8220;widespread fraud&#8221; that\u200c could have overturned the 2020 election and that one or more witnesses may have committed perjury.<\/li>\n<li>However, Trump&#8217;s legal counsel \u2064submitted a 500-page filing asking McBurney to quash the grand jury&#8217;s report, \u2064saying that it was biased and\u2064 impartial and Willis\u2062 should be removed from the investigation. The former president&#8217;s request was \u2064denied by McBurney on July 31.<\/li>\n<li>On Monday, an indictment was returned\u2063 against Trump, Giuliani, Eastman, and 16 others on charges\u200d of election fraud, racketeering, and conspiracy, among \u2063others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The former \u2063president has criticized Willis\u2064 as a &#8220;radical\u200c Democrat&#8221; whose &#8220;politically inspired&#8221; charges were brought \u200cto interfere with his lead in \u2064the GOP primary race.<\/p>\n<p>Trump and his allies have until 12 p.m. local time\u200b on Aug. 25 to report to authorities \u2062in Fulton County, Willis \u2064said.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200cformer president faces three other criminal cases. At the federal level, \u2062special counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump twice for his handling of \u200cclassified documents in June and July and\u2062 once\u200d in August\u200d for his efforts\u2062 to overturn the 2020\u2063 election and the \u2064Jan. \u20626 riots.<\/p>\n<p>At the state level, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his office charged Trump in March with 34 counts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/are-the-charges-brought-against-the-trump-organizations-cfo-part-of-a-witch-hunt-experts-weigh-in\/\" title=\"Are The Charges Brought Against The Trump Organization\u2019s CFO Part Of A Witch Hunt?
