The indictment,\u200b targeting not just Trump but\u2064 18 \u2063of his \u200dlawyers and advisers, is a clear message that if you\u2019re a Republican, challenging\u2064 election results \u2014 something Democrats have done after every GOP presidential victory this century \u2014 is now \u2062a criminal offense.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Biden&#8217;s \u2062Department of Justice Protecting Itself<\/h3>\n<p>Meanwhile, President Joe Biden\u2019s Department \u2064of Justice is <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/20\/its-increasingly-clear-the-feds-were-protecting-joe-biden-not-hunter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tripping over itself<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/21\/hunter-biden-plea-deal-on-five-year-old-crimes-shows-biden-protection-racket-at-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">insulate<\/a> Biden and his\u2064 son \u2063from scrutiny or criminal consequences for their apparent\u200d scheme to get rich off of peddling American political \u2062influence \u200dabroad.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1268652605\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b5d0858b72bb75eb9d4d69a92ccede7b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b5d0858b72bb75eb9d4d69a92ccede7b\"><\/div>\n<p>The hacks at DOJ, by the \u200bway, also indicted Trump over a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/09\/second-trump-indictment-is-proof-of-two-tiered-justice-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">classified documents<\/a> dispute, after raiding \u200bhis\u2063 house and\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/09\/fbi-even-searched-melanias-wardrobe-in-trump-raid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rifling<\/a> through his wife\u2019s closet. Soon after, Biden was found \u2064to have classified documents <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/12\/we-need-a-special-counsel-to-investigate-joe-bidens-classified-documents-case-pronto\/#:~:text=Today%2C%20Biden's%20lawyer%20says%20that,next%20to%20his%20beloved%20Corvette.)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lying around<\/a> \u2062in his \u2064garage, but\u200d in his case,\u2062 the feds are content to play nice. Oh,\u2063 and Hillary Clinton also had a classified records scandal \u2014 in which her team destroyed emails and devices with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2016\/09\/best-of-clinton-fbi-report-227692\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BleachBit and\u200c literal hammers<\/a> \u2014 but enjoyed the protection \u2064of \u2063then-FBI Director James\u200b Comey.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Hillary,\u2063 her campaign shopped a \u2062fake\u2062 dossier full of lies about Trump to the FBI, which media and intelligence agencies used to smear Trump as a\u2062 Russian stooge during and after\u2062 the 2016 election. FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, the one person handed criminal <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/08\/14\/kevin-clinesmith-corrupt-fbi-attorney-who-falsified-carter-page-fisa-warrant-expected-to-plead-guilty\/\">punishment<\/a> for the\u2063 operation, got 12 months probation.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and Hillary was one \u200bof many, many Democrats who screeched for Donald Trump\u2019s \u2063entire presidency that \u2062the 2016 \u200celection was stolen and Trump\u2019s win was illegitimate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[Readnext:[Readnext:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/21\/hillary-clinton-doubts-election-results-while-claiming-doing-so-is-treason\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hillary\u200c Clinton Doubts Election Results While Claiming Doing So Is Treason<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e7291c485b0ec0aa88d1467cfe2ffe96 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e7291c485b0ec0aa88d1467cfe2ffe96\"><\/div>\n<p>Lest\u200d you should think Trump is the only \u200cexample of the\u200c double standard, remember that the DOJ raided the home of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/with-trump-indictment-revisit-20-times-leftists-melted-down-over-lock-her-up-hillary-gibe\/\" title=\"With Trump Indictment, Revisit 20 Times Leftists Melted Down Over \u2018Lock Her Up\u2019 Hillary Gibe\">pro-life pastor<\/a> for pushing a threatening pro-abortion agitator away from his young son, while militant abortion \u200dactivists firebombed Christian pregnancy clinics. \u2064Recall how they <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/16\/daniel-penny-deserves-a-medal-not-jail-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charged<\/a> a man with homicide for defending subway \u200briders from a threatening \u2062vagrant, but do nothing to stop criminals who terrorize law-abiding citizens. Think about \u200cthe ongoing campaign to imprison anyone adjacent to a Republican protest that turned into a mob at \u200dthe U.S. Capitol in 2021, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/when-the-justice-system-falls-apart-so-does-the-republic\/\" title=\"When justice fails, so does the republic.\">letting left-wing protests descend<\/a> into fiery riots across the country for\u200d an entire summer. <em>Excuse\u200b me, fiery but mostly peaceful \u200driots.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The message couldn\u2019t be clearer: Republicans can do nothing right in the eyes of the \u2063justice system, and Democrats can do nothing wrong. We \u2064have a two-tiered justice\u2063 system, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/09\/4-in-5-americans-see-two-tiered-justice-system-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">4 in 5 Americans<\/a> know it.<\/p>\n<p>Problems of hypocrisy are another day\u2019s work in politics. The use of the criminal justice system \u2014 the leveler on which the basic functions of a society depend \u2014 to turn that hypocrisy into arrest warrants is \u2063something else entirely.<\/p>\n<p>A functioning justice system is a \u200bcitizen\u2019s best peaceful defense of his liberty, assuring him \u2062that his lawful exercise of freedoms will be protected. There\u2019s \u2062a reason <a href=\"https:\/\/billofrightsinstitute.org\/primary-sources\/bill-of-rights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">four \u2064of the\u2062 10<\/a> \u200b original\u200d amendments the\u200c founders\u200d affixed to their newly minted Constitution regard the\u2062 rights attendant to \u200ba \u2064fair trial. When the justice system forfeits citizens\u2019 trust, trust in\u200d the \u200dintegrity of the republic itself goes with it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5a7a31ac0e4b408c842abda2e3a642be fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5a7a31ac0e4b408c842abda2e3a642be\"><\/div>\n<p>We don\u2019t have real elections if candidates are jailed \u2014 or chilled by the threat of jail \u2014 to keep them\u200b from running. We don\u2019t have\u2063 real \u200clegal \u2064recourse if DAs indict lawyers\u200d until other lawyers become \u2062afraid to defend an ostracized client. For all Democrats\u2019 pontificating about the rule of law, it doesn\u2019t exist if it\u2019s only applied and misapplied \u2062to half the country. If\u200b we no longer uphold equal justice under the law, we still have a country, but not the one we thought we had.<\/p>\n<p>As my colleague Joy Pullmann <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/08\/criminalizing-opposition-to-the-regime-is-how-the-republic-ends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> a year ago, \u201cA country that\u200d harshly prosecutes people or lets them off Scot-free based on their political \u200daffiliation is a banana republic.\u200c A two-tier justice system \u2063is not\u2064 a justice system. \u2026 Its purpose is not justice but population control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A \u2064fair justice system isn\u2019t the first thing to crumble in a dying republic \u2014 there are plenty of warning\u200d signs \u2014 but it\u2064 might be \u200dthe hardest \u2062loss \u200cto come back from. After \u200dall, the law is supposed \u2062to be the authority\u200b to which Americans appeal when \u200btheir \u2063rights are \u2064abused \u200band trampled.\u200b What are they supposed to\u200d do when the law and its enforcers are doling out the abuse?<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democrats continue their relentless pursuit to exploit the criminal justice system as a means to imprison their primary political adversary.
