Both\u2064 his personal and campaign messages \u2063were compromised.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Bacon shared on the social media\u200b platform X (formerly known as Twitter) that the Chinese \u200bCommunist\u200c Party had unauthorized \u2062access to his accounts for\u2064 approximately a month, ending on June\u200c 16.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bacon, the \u2063hack was a result of a vulnerability in Microsoft software, likely referring to the recent hacking campaign disclosed by Microsoft. This\u2063 campaign reportedly led to the theft of hundreds of thousands of emails from senior U.S. \u2063officials,\u2062 including U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo\u200b and U.S. Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns.<\/p>\n<p>CNN previously reported \u200bthat email accounts in the House of Representatives were targeted in the same campaign.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There were other victims in this cyber operation,&#8221; Bacon stated on X. &#8220;The Communist government in China are not our friends\u200b and are very active in\u200c conducting cyber espionage.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese Embassy in Washington has\u200b not yet responded to requests \u2063for comment, and both the FBI and Microsoft have yet \u2062to reply.<\/p>\n<p>Bacon, a\u2063 former Air Force brigadier general and current member of the House Armed Services Committee, was elected\u2064 to Congress in \u20632016.
