New\u200b York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is among the 19 individuals including \u200bformer President\u200b Donald Trump to be\u2062 indicted by a grand jury \u2064in Fulton County, Georgia, \u200chas called the charges \u2064against him &#8220;an affront to \u2064American Democracy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u2062 Giuliani was indicted on Aug. \u200b14 along\u2064 with multiple other allies of President Trump in relation to their efforts to challenge the results\u200c of the 2020 presidential election in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Fulton County District\u200c Attorney Fani Willis unveiled the\u200c 13 federal \u2064charges against Mr. Giuliani in a 98-page indictment (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fultonclerk.org\/DocumentCenter\/View\/2077\/CRIMINAL-INDICTMENT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) alleging \u2064he\u2063 and \u200dothers &#8220;unlawfully\u2064 conspired and endeavored to conduct and participate in \u200bcriminal enterprise in Fulton County, Georgia, indictment, Mr. Giuliani called the charges\u200d against\u200c him and others &#8220;an affront to American Democracy&#8221;\u200d that does &#8220;permanent, irrevocable harm to\u200b our justice system.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s just the next chapter in a book of lies with the purpose of framing President \u2064Donald Trump and anyone willing to take on the ruling regime,&#8221; the\u200c former New York \u200bCity mayor said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They lied about Russian collusion, they lied about [President] Joe \u2062Biden&#8217;s foreign bribery scheme, and they lied about Hunter Biden&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/giuliani-says-latest-trump-indictment-an-affront-to-american-democracy-as-lawyer-charged-in-georgia-2020-election-case\/\" title=\"Giuliani condemns Trump indictment, calls it an attack on democracy\">laptop hard \u2063drive proving 30 years<\/a> of criminal \u2063activity,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;The real criminals here are the people who have brought this case forward both directly and indirectly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, Mr. Giuliani, President Trump&#8217;s former attorney, was charged with a violation of Georgia\u2019s RICO Act (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations), soliciting the violation of oath by a public official, conspiracies to commit false statements and \u2063writings, conspiracies to commit forgery in \u200dthe first \u200cdegree, conspiracies to commit impersonating a public officer, and \u200dconspiracies to commit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-court-website-posts-document-with-13-charges-against-trump-and-then-deletes-it\/\" title=\"Georgia court website briefly published a document listing 13 charges against Trump, which was later removed.\">filing false documents<\/a>, among other charges.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:640px\" accuses Mr. Giuliani \u2064and \u2063others of having &#8220;constituted criminal organization whose members\u2063 and associates engaged in various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-indicted-18-others-charged-including-giuliani-meadows-and-eastman\/\" title=\"Donald Trump indicted, along with 18 others including Giuliani, Meadows, and Eastman.\">related criminal activities including<\/a>, but not limited \u200cto, false \u200dstatements and writings, impersonating public officer, forgery, filing false documents, influencing witnesses, computer theft, computer trespass, computer invasion of privacy, conspiracy to defraud the state, acts involving theft, and perjury.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It cites multiple phone calls made by \u200cMr. Giuliani, including a Nov. 15, 2020 call he\u2064 made to an unindicted \u2063co-conspirator \u2062identified as &#8220;Individual 2&#8221; in which he allegedly made\u200c &#8220;statements concerning fraud&#8221; in the 2020 election, which prosecutors \u2062allege was an &#8220;overt \u200dact in furtherance\u2063 of the conspiracy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It also cites comments made by Mr. Giuliani and others at a press conference at the Republican National Committee headquarters in November 2020 in which they allegedly &#8220;made false statements concerning fraud&#8221; in the election in Georgia and elsewhere; and comments he made at \u200ba Georgia Senate subcommittee meeting in December 2020 in which \u2062he claimed that\u200b &#8220;at least 96,000 mail-in ballots were counted in the 2020 presidential election, \u200cdespite there being no record of those ballots having been returned\u200b to the county elections office.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The indictment also cites multiple emails and tweets sent by Mr. Giuliani\u200b as well as his alleged efforts\u2063 to unlawfully\u2062 appoint presidential electors from\u2063 Georgia in \u2064violation (Melissa Sue Gerrits\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>&#8216;The Witch\u200d Hunt Continues&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RudyGiuliani\/status\/1691238470508064778\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video\u200b statement<\/a> on X, formerly known\u200c as Twitter, on Monday Mr. Giuliani said he had read through the charges leveled against him and others and declared, &#8220;If they&#8217;re crimes, I&#8217;ll eat my hat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Monday prior to the indictment announcement, Mr. Giuliani denied any wrongdoing in the Georgia election probe and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/live-blog\/trump-georgia-indictment-rcna98900\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told \u200cNBC News<\/a> he believes \u2064the latest \u2062legal challenge would &#8220;result in a massive victory for Donald Trump.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>President Trump was \u200calso \u200ccharged with \u206313 \u200bcounts in Monday&#8217;s indictment\u2014the fourth indictment against him\u200c this year\u2014including a violation of Georgia\u2019s RICO \u200bAct, solicitation of violation of\u2062 oath by a public officer, conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree, \u200cand conspiracy to commit filing of false\u200c documents.<\/p>\n<p>He has denied all wrongdoing,<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, former White House Chief of Staff Mark\u200c Meadows, President Trump&#8217;s personal lawyer<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>the 2020 election results.
